Raccoons keep eating the feed my dad puts out for the deer, so he made a jig and mounted a laser pointer on the side of his .22. Now he goes outside and doesn't have to aim to hit them. But he mentioned he can only get one per night. I thought it was because the others hear the shot and run away. Turns out they're smarter than that. When he turns on the light and puts it on a raccoon, if another sees the light he'll run away.

So there'll be one raccoon standing there with a laser on him and the others all take off running, knowing what's about to happen. I didn't believe it until I was at his house and he showed me...he was 100% right. They saw the light and took off.

Leave out the bucket of fun melons and go out with the rifle when they are good and liqueured up.

Another tip.... the best way to spotlight is to shine a bright spotlight 20^ above the critters. Don't shine the light on the critters themselves. The upward tilted light will make the little bleeders eyeballs glow like brake lights. If you are using a suppressor, there will be no muzzle flash and you can go from one to the other to the other VERY quickly with noggin shots.

If you do these things together, you will will feel sad at how efficient it is. Like commandos bustin up a nightclub at closing time.

Suppressors can be made with basic tools and a home depot. You can make one and use it if you live in a free country.

It's a good sign of population control. Coons are considered vermin, something the law allows uncontrolled killing of, especially since they eat turkey eggs, thus lowering the population of turkey.

Feeding issues seemed to be solved, the mag was so tight fitting it seemed to be distorting it ever so slightly that it would only feed properly from the left side of the stack.

Thanks, glad you like it after all our bickering.

The stock set is just the rommy G stock with the forward grip chopped off, stripped and re stained.

since the picture all the metal parts but the barrel and front trunnion have been painted black using engine enamel. It wont be as good as duracoat or the like but it should hold up well if my prep was good.

For your finish, try this in the future:

Sand the parts that are to be finished with 220, then 400 grit paper to remove any paint or bluing. Stuff the internal parts with paper to prevent them from being contacted by the reagent.

Heat up 1/2 cup of H202 till it steams.(the 3% stuff from the pharmacy will do great). Saturate the hot solution with table salt (non-iodized if possible). Put in a couple teaspoons of distilled vinegar. While the solution is hot(re-heat if necissary), spray onto the clean steel surface.

Wait until the steel stops bubbling- it should be reddish brown at this point. Repeat 3 or 4 times, and the item should be black now (depending on the type of steel). Fix and JET BLACK the finish by boiling in distilled water.

This leaves a super hard, very rust resistant finish that is BEAUTIFUL. I believe that the surface is covered in FeO4 after doing this. FeO3 is garden variety rust. FeO4 is scale.
