If liberals love the government so much

and want more taxation, why don't more write checks directly to the treasury department to give the government more money?

Only some 2000 people do this a year, why don't more do it? Why not put your money where your mouth is?

It was either a guest on the Daily Show or Arthur Brooks from dpak's interview, but I heard someone recently point out how liberals often critisize conservative economic policy because it doesn't allow for government help to poor people, but if you look at out-of-pocket donations, conservatives kick liberal ass.

I lol'd

a Supreme Court Justice actually died and left his estate to the government

Not suprisingly, it was Justice Holmes who dissented from the libertarian Lochner case which advocated freedom of contract

I've never understood several aspects of conservative and liberal arguments.

Thorgrim and Motivez for example are constantly voicing opinion against the bush administration and their way of fighting terror. They dont want the government prying into their business via wiretaps, internet monitoring etc. Which is fine I understand that, but they're totally ok with the government dipping into everyone's pocket to redistribute wealth AGAINST the will of the majority of the people its being taken from.

Conservatives are the same way with moral issues such as abortion and wanting to impose christian values on the masses. Both parties seem inconsistent in significant ways.

The best was i heard a democrat ad for office "I want to get the gov't out of your personal life"

then one of the "promises" was, "universal health care"

well golly fuck, you have to tax everyone more for that, then you impose fasicst standards on everyones health lives. how is that less gov't in your personal life.

The sad part is, Republicans seem to love the government more, as evidenced the past 6 years.
