| Every once in a while my faith in humanity is restored Every once in a while something happens that makes you say wow, some people really are good. Usually it's undone by some disfunctional ass clown shortly thereafter but hey you can't have everything. So this weekend my parents from MA were visiting, along with my Grandmother and Aunt from Florida. On Saturday we all decided to take the train into Philly and take Hannah ( my daughter ) to see the christmas light show at the old Wanamaker's building, now a Macy's. Pic: ![]() So we take the PATCO speed line over to 8th and Market and hike 6 blocks in the cold to the Macy's building... Keep in mind that my Grandmother is 80 years old and my wife is carrying the baby, and my mother has an artificial knee, so 6 blocks was a bit of an effort. On the way home we left the Macy's building and saw across the street a subway station. Thinking that we could get on the Speedline right there we went down the stairs to see. My father asked the lady working at the booth where we can get the speedline to NJ and she told him that we did infact have to walk 6 blocks back to 8th and Market. Ugh. So we all start walking and after we got about 50 feet away we hear the lady yelling at us. After she told my father to start walking I guess she looked over, saw my wife carrying the baby and my grandmother hobbling along and took pity on us. She let us all on the subway for free so that we could take the subway to 8th and market and not have to walk the 6 blocks. If you are at all familiar with public transit and Philadelphia, something like this is quite rare. It was just one of those little things that make you realize that there really is good in the world. | ||||

| cool story It's always great to see someone go above and beyond to help another person.. that's part of what's great about the holiday season. One thing I'm confused about though, what do you mean you went to see Christmas lights? Haven't the liberal secularists in New Jersey gotten rid of them entirely? I seem to remember hearing that the new front in the War on Christmas was protecting the color blind from being offended by "red and green lights" which they weren't able to fully comprehend the beauty of.. | ||||
