Ron Paul was only raising so little, he was on track to raise 5 million, if he was lucky...he had one unofficial "moneybomb" that didn't even register, and he had a big fund-raising drive this quarter to help get him on the air in Iowa...it was a major flop and he couldn't even hit 400k over a couple of days of whoring it all over his web page....even the most hard card RPers I met predicted about 1-2 million for Nov 5th, and then ofcourse, we'd be back on track...so even if I believed the Nov 5th hype, which Ron Paul himself didn't until a few days before it...thats 5 million + 1-2...he's capped at 7 million most...where the hell is going to raise another 5 million...assuming he even gets 2 million on November 5th, which was certainly in question
It was one of the most lopsided and easiest bets I've ever made in my life, and it reminds me of playing poker, i've already posted the example so I'm not going to repeat it, but there are some hands you're an idiot if you don't take the bet...if lew is going to run around making these horrible bets, ofcourse I'd take him up
Yes, politics goes up and down, it looks like Mike Huckabee is the new front-runner, up ahead in just about every meaningful early state except NH...and closing in even on Florida
But this was completely different than fluid poll numbers
So I made a bet that I didn't particularly care if I won...and the odds overwhelmingly favored me...similiar circumstances any of you would be an idiot not to take it
Especially considering that making an AE is so incredibly easy, and DIAC is such a shit hole, the only way I'd get "caught" would be if I ran right back there and posted the exact same stuff (with a trollish flare now that it's unmodded) since 2002...and it's just not worth my time
I asked the admins several times, even after it became clear that Ron Paul would actually pull it off, to honor the bet...their answer was clear: We won't ban lew because of any bet you made on DIAC, we won't honor the bet in anyway whatsoever
So the ban-bet became void on LL
That doesn't mean I'll be stay here...no I won't troll my way until I get banned, or leave insulting everyone and everything...I'll just keep an inactive account, and depending if people care, I'll write a small post saying "I don't want to be Hillary's public defender to LL, and the entire forum has basically become anti-Hillary, that's not my thing, I'll check back time to time" but I won't be asking for a ban, nor doing anything to earn one
But if this place from super-tuesday until Nov 4th becomes a place where my sole role is to defend Obama and Hillary against ridiculous attacks, I have better things to do with my time...many right-wingers here will never run out of Obama/Hillary ammo and I never signed up here to be their personal defenders...
And surprisingly, even worse, if a Democrat gets elected, well now it would be my role to defend every action the House takes, everything the Senate does, and the entire White House's day by day actions...and as previously stated, if a Republican wins, I really don't think I have it in me to spend 4 more years online complaining to a right-wing crowd about their right-wing president...the Daily Show does it with much more comedy, and left wing blogs do it with much more substance
I didn't enjoy it daily, I went there to discuss HBO's Rome, and check out news about star trek: enterprise (if it was coming back) and firefly
All 3 are gone and never coming back, and there's a reason for the past year I've avoided DIAC since it became un-modded...it's simply a place to troll...we're about to nominate a candidate...and then elect a president...trolling isn't fun when every other thread is "OMG did you hear Obama snorts cocaine?" and "Hillary is the most evil person ever, my friends brother's co-worker said he heard at a party the SS doesn't like her"
Right now, and until about the middle/end of january, we still have the Ron-Pauls, people unsure about if they'd vote democrat (deppends on the person)...its a big free-for-all and there's a small chance for fun...but that's going to end real soon, and even here on LL where there are rules it's not going to be pretty
If a Democrat wins, it's zero fun to post on OT because now everyone is going to blame everything on the Democrats unless something gets solved, no more blaming Bush...it's not my job to be the troll-defender of Hillary, which in reality would not be fun
