| So I went to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra while I was in Dallas I just got back last night from 10 days in Dallas to see my family for Christmas, while I was there I went to see them play at the American Airlines Center.. Apparently they also came to Greensboro, but I missed out on that entirely. They didn't allow cameras in, but I did manage to take a few pictures (which didn't turn out) and a few movie clips on my cell phone (which also suck), but I'm still trying to get them on the computer Really amazing concert, I hadn't ever seen them live before and it definitely lives up to what people say about it.. Even though it was a few days after Christmas, they dedicated the first half of the show to their Christmas stuff, and the last half of the concert was non-Christmas stuff There wasn't as much pyro stuff as I thought there was going to be, but when they did one of the big flame things toward the end of the show I could feel the heat from it.. instead of fire, they did way more with lasers. At the very end, they brought out the new lead singer of Queen (Paul Rodgers, who used to be in Bad Company) as a surprise guest, completely unannounced to the public.. they said it was something they were only doing in Texas, no other states. ![]() He did two songs.. Bad Company and All Right Now, and everyone went completely fucking nuts The variety of people who showed up was amazing to me, old and young, and definitely from different economic situations (in my best guess).. I didn't think there'd be too many older folks (late 60's, 70's) would care too much for the rock and electric guitar, but the ones I was sitting around seemed to be enjoying all it. They also donated a portion of the ticket sales to the Make a Wish Foundation, which I thought was really cool addition to an overall amazing concert. Anyone else ever seen them live? | ||||

| I thought about that when I was posting this thread, I was like, "Hey wait a second, Publius lives in Dallas.. I wonder if he went?" It completely slipped my mind though, I was so freaking busy with buying presents and all the rest of the holiday stuff that goes along with it, I only got on like twice while I was there.. I'll most likely be heading back this summer though! | ||||

| Yeah, I saw them last year. My wife's sister's husband is a concert booker so he was able to finagle us some third row side seats at the last minute.. it was a total win. One of the best concerts I've ever gone to. | ||||

| Yeah, it's probably the best concert I've ever been to, just an amazing all around experience.. I was half deaf for like 2 days, but it was worth it! I had such a good time I'm thinking I'll try to make it a habit for their Christmas tours. | ||||

| Isn't the AAC and the Victory Park area around it (AT&T Plaza, W Hotel, etc.) just fucking amazing? Hard to believe that a decade ago that whole area was pretty much landfill. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Publius; 01-02-2008 at 11:40 AM.. | ||||

| Yeah, it was pretty nice. I remember going to Reunion Arena for everything.. I guess it's all moved out there now? Someone said they were thinking of turning Reunion Arena into a homeless shelter or something.. I can't even picture that. | ||||

That reminds me of when I saw David Bowie about 15 years ago. He played about 4-5 songs and all the sudden his guitarist goes into a Peter Frampton riff and the crowd applauds a little. Then he sticks up his arms and waves and it's still playing. All the sudden here comes Peter Frampton walking around the corner jamming. The place went fucking NUTS. They did about 3 Frampton songs and then he stayed the rest of the concert playing Bowie songs with his band. Just like you, completely unannounced. It was a great surprise. | ||||
