| Candidates from both parties have as high negatives as Hillary Favorable Unfavorable Edwards 49 42 Clinton 48 50 Obama 43 51 Giuliani 40 55 Huckabee 40 47 Romney 38 51 McCain 53 27 Rasmussen Reports™: The most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a mid-term election. 50% has a negative opinion about Hillary? Well, as I've said before, Obama tops that, so does Rudy and Romney, Huckabee is statistically tied, Edwards just about there, Thompson I took out because he basically announced he was going to drop out if he doesn't place 2nd in Iowa, which is basically impossible McCain is different, but notice his positives are just about tied with Hillary...the illegal immigration thing debacle isn't being broadcast across the country right now, and all everyone thinks about him off the top of his head was that he was tortured in Vietnam Markos made a commment on DKos I agree with...it was good for McCain to implode, he is able to come back without all the negatives of slugging it out and the big campaign wounds Think about it, when was the last time anyone heard the term 'Keating 5'? I don't know why but they seem to be afraid to attack McCain on some of the easiest issues, I guess wait for the general But the major point is, everyone hates everyone else just as much as Hillary, all that "obama-mania" of compromise attracting voters was a total myth, and if it comes down to McCain-Obama, you'll see everyone here who voted for Bush in 2000/2004 vote for McCain in 2008 I was at a bar at my local town the other night and I heard some guy say "oh yeah Obama, isn't he a communist islamofascist?" the person was 100% serious... | ||||

| Here's the problem with Hillary though: "I'm going to vote for Obama, as an anti-Hillary vote," she said, "and I have two friends doing the same thing." Candidates Make Final Pitches in Iowa People are voting for the frontrunner to prevent her from being elected. Nobody is saying they don't want Obama so they're going to vote for Hillary. When it comes down to election day I think we're going to see people voting for the Obama/Edwards anybody but Hillary card. Many supporters of the bottom rung candidates are going to vote the anti-Hillary vote. I have a feeling it's going to hit her when the votes are counted. Richardson is already telling his supporters to vote for Obama and not him. | ||||

| anecdotes... Yes I know people voting for someone elese because they want anyone but Obama/Edwards, but it's not useful to have a battle of the anecdotes She leads by over 20 points nationally, and before you say "people get to know..." she has polls showing her leading every state in the union, including ARGs polls that had her up big today The point is people already have high negatives towards Obama and he hasn't even been really smeared yet, the right wing machine is holding it's ammo for anyone but Hillary Many people I've heard on "moderate/open" forums like DIAC and OT who professed their interest in Obama (I believe you were among them) will switch sides so fast it won't even be funny The votes you are talking about, yours included, are unwinnable, and asking people to appeal to those voters is a fools errand | ||||

| She didn't lose one vote. They weren't going to vote for her regardless. The point is people are not voting for the politician of their choice and instead voting the anti-Hillary vote. This isn't an isolated incident of one person. Nobody is voting for Hillary because they hate Obama. She's going to get the anti-vote and other candidates are telling people to essentially vote for people other than Hillary. Favorable vs unfavorable polls don't do justice to Hillary's actual standing. People aren't unfavorable of her. They flat out dislike her and will vote accordingly to prevent her from becoming president. If you were to break down the degrees of unfavorability I'm sure that without a doubt Hillary would be set apart from the rest, as has been shown time and time again.
