What Web Browser do you use at Home and Why?

I use Firefox, got into it in late 2006. Its fantastic (loads fast, less freezing) and much better and more secure than IE which I don't use anymore. But now that it has become more mainstream the hackers are targeting it more so we will see about the security front.

I also know some people prefer some of the small ones out there for various reasons. So what do you use and why? And which browser in your opinion is the "best" one?

I use both Firefox and Opera. Pages tend to load a little better in Firefox, namely forums. Opera is fast and has a ton of useful features built in. Speed dial rocks.

Hmm good point, is there anyway I can go back to the poll question and allow multiple selections? I tried editing but that didn't work

FF, but an application at work makes me keep IE around.

At first I had it because of security. Now I have it because I still believe it's more secure (and know it may not be) but mostly because it's customized the way I like it.

I use linux primarily so IE is out, but I've been using FF for years. IE is starting to get some of its security holes shored up, but the addons for FF are awesome (like adblocker, for instance)

I use IE because that is what came with Windows Vista and it works fine for me. I don't have a reason to install any more software, I like to install as little software as I can to keep things working quickly.

Using a more secure browser will take up minimal hard disk space and seal up security vulnerabilities that will help keep things working quickly on your computer.

Does the latest version of IE with Windows Vista really have alot of security issues? I mean I have a firewall and AV software. Vista seems to be pretty secure. I dunno.

It's better, but most likely still not as secure and it's slower. I would make sure ActiveX is off if you're using IE.

I use Firefox but it has been crashing on me a lot lately. Reloaded it and it still does. I love having tabs so I keep using it. I know IE whatever supports tabes but I can't use it since I use my home computer for work sometimes and the new IE isn't compatible with some of the Java apps I have to use.

Might give Opera a try. Never used it.

Last year, 50% of the people who visited our site used IE (28% IE7, 21% IE6), and 38% used FireFox

The FireFox numbers have been on the increase

Out IT dept will only let people use IE here at work. We are not allowed to install any other browsers. Not sure what the reasoning is. Maybe ease of support.

I also use Firefox because I like the feel, and think it's generally a better browser.. not just security wise, but feature wise as well with addons and so forth.

Firefox 3 is going to be really nice from what I hear, especially on the memory issue

FF I love the tabs and the extensions.

Plus, I'd sound like an illiterate fuck without spell check.

Word, love the on-the-fly spell check. Also, if you use linux you can install an addon into Gnome that does that for all programs

They probably use software that needs IE or ActiveX to run. FireFox is just as easy if not easier to support than IE.

I would have just guessed "they're lazy asses who only want to support the lowest common denominator."
