| Travelling? Where to find Beer! Ok so I was at "The Grand NYC" club last night for a friends party and I discovered that while liquor is ok, I am a beer guy and this place - besides being expensive - had no selection, maybe like 3 types off beers, the usually suspects that were overpriced. So I'm thinking for the folks who visit my fine city and for my benefit (and others) who visit yours, where are the spots where we can get some good beer, preferably good selection, decent prices and a good atmosphere? Here is a start: Croxely Ales - Have like 50 types of beers, $.10 wings (great wings!) every Monday and Wed and always packed during that time 28 Avenue B New York, NY 10009 O'Lunney's Irish Pub - Nice Atmosphere, good beer and ok prices. Its in the heart of Times Square 145 W 45th St New York, NY 10036-4008 Mustang Sally's..Mustang Harry's and Triple Crown in the midtown area A bunch of bar/restaurants close to each other. All on the 7th avenue between 27th and 30th (I believe, + or - a street) There are a bunch of smaller spots but these are in the hot areas where you will probably be. I will add more later and include the small pubs and bars...enjoy! Now share yours!

| Linzy would be better suited for giving beer places in Boston, so I'll give Nashville, TN. The Flying Saucer - with almost 250 beers (75 on tap), great food and good music The Beer Sellar - 150 beers, 50 taps, and one bitchin' jukebox...2 for one pitchers on Sunday and Thursday And if you like microbrews, there's Boscos and Blackstone. | ||||

| NAJA'S PLACE 154 INTERNATIONAL BOARDWALK REDONDO BEACH, CA 90277 The Largest Selection of Beer in Los Angeles Thats One of my Old Haunts right on the Redondo Beach Pier. They were called Naja's Originally because they once featured Belly Dancing and Middle East Food. Now they feature Rock and Blues Cover Bands and plenty of good beer and Ale on TAP! And what they don't have on tap they probably have in the Big Fridges. Naja's also has a fine selection of Alcohol Cider for the ladies who don't like the beer. But the best feature is that they are a long building with open air windows and seats that face the Boardwalk and Harbor so in the Summer the Girl Watching while you drink is excellent! ![]() ![]() ![]()

| For those about to rock... libertarian Atlanta, GA ![]() ![]()
| All over the Atlanta metro area are Taco Macs, which have a very large selection of beer. From their site: "Taco MacŪ offers a tremendous selection of beers from around the world. With as many as 108 different beers on tap, and bottle varieties reaching 350 unique selections, we are sure to have just what you are looking for." They change beers a lot, have a beer of the month, and every thursday give away beer glasses with the beer of the month if you're the first X many people in the restaurant (depending on supplies I think). There's also a Taco Mac in Chatanooga, TN. Other than that, Atlanta has a few breweries that have tours and whatnot... can't miss those | ||||

| boston beer works brews there own beer. pretty good stuff. I like the blueberry ale with blueberries floating in it. John Harvards in Harvard square's got some good microbrews too. Cambridge Commons on Mass Ave between Harvard and Porter Sq is good too. i mean in Boston, it's hard to find a place that doesn't have a good selection.....

I used to have my German conversation group meet there, but the waitstaff were too often pricks to us..... | ||||

| For DC: for largest selection - RFD & related places. The one in Chinatown is the one I'm most familiar with. The place isn't too exciting IMO though. RFD Washington DC
My personal favorite - Pizzeria Paradiso The one in Georgetown has a smaller, but awesome selection of beers. (get the atomica pizza while you're there)

| If you find yourself in NYC in late October be sure to check out Brewtopia at the Jacob Javits center (last year it was Oct 26th and 27th). It claims itself as one of the biggest beer festivals in the world, lots of breweries I tried to go last year with a buddy but tickets were sold out, so if you go, get it early and be sure to be prepared for it to be packed - but the center is 60,000 square feet so you will have room to move once your in. | ||||

| The Claddagh Pub & Restaurant Introduction My brother-in-law is good friends with the owner. He said the claddagh pours some unreal amount of guinness. He said it and I forget, but it's something like they're the 4th or 5th leading guinness server in the US. The place is in downtown lawrence......a real shithole. But they put an "outside area" for "people to sit" and "enjoy the atmosphere." Translated, that means bouncers sit in the parking lot and watch the cars so the asshole local gangs don't break into them. The bar is fantastic......just don't stop at the signal lights as you're leaving, no matter what color they are. | ||||
