I love the liberal utopian answer for everything, the idea that government could ever run anything more efficiently than the market.

There is a need for a company that makes money off of denying us healthcare. Someone has to ration healthcare. I guarantee you the market will do it ten times better than the government can.
Medicare/Medicaid costs are unrelated to costs of universal coverage because there's no need to determine eligibility. Simply repeating the opposite of everything I say does not a logical argument make.

National security IS a part of our lives where government is needed. Controlling how we live is not.
I am for government involvement into areas where the private market fails to be efficient. Health insurance is one of those areas. Other areas include the production of needed public goods such as national defence and clean air, and taking into account externalities on both production and consumption.I would like less government though in other areas where it isn't really needed, such as social security, I also think that we spend too much on national defense and the military.

Our government does do a better job at keeping administrative costs down that private insurance markets do. They are capable of spreading administrative costs out over greater quantities of output (and the government does).

Anything the government uses tax dollars on is usually done with a lot of waste and corruption involved. Working for a company that gets government contracts, I know how much waste goes on and how contracts DO NOT go to the best provider. The contracts are given to friends and other fellow criminals, and the American public is too dumb to ask for a receipt.

We just don't care much when we don't pay for it. That is another reason why there is so much fraud in medicade and medicare. Government does not have the incentive to prevent themself from getting ripped off because they think they have an endless pool of money to keep dipping into.
