My college roomate didn't believe the holocaust happened. He wasn't racist he was just dumb and ignorant. So I took it upon me to educate him and we went and got books about it and saw Schindler's list. He quickly changed his views. The sad thing is he is actually a docotor now and he was probably one of the most ignorant people I have met about life. I think he was raised under a rock.

Being ignorant (just not knowing) isn't as bad as seeing the evidence and coming to the conclusion it didn't happen.

I woudln't have a problem with your roommate. There's plenty I don't know that he'd probably think "how can he *not* know that?!?"

Everyone can see the "evidence" of certain events but come to different conclusions.

Killing millions of people because of their religion is pretty straight forward.

Perhaps some of the details may have been exaggerated over the years, but the basics are all there.

You want to say 4 million instead of 6 million I won't argue. But if you want to say it was distorted from 300k to 6 million then I'd say you're wrong.

None. That's just another reason I'm glad to live in the country I do.

Yeppers.... of civilians, up to 20 Million Christians and up to 6 million Jews were murdered in the early 20th century.

Between WWI and WWII, entire generations of European males were slaughtered like beasts and left mutilated in the fields.

I personally suspect that the real number is certainly in the millions of Jews. An unimaginable number of deaths indeed.

I think that much of the 'official' history is bogus, but that doesn't diminish the actual suffering and horror of the times.

I dont give a damn that the Nazis murdered millions of Jews, I care deeply that the Nazis murdered millions of people. People of many cultures.

I look at my history books and it's Jew this, Jew that but I see nothing about Chinese this, Chinese that. And my thoughts on the subject CERTAINLY have nothing to do with hate.

i think plenty of different races and types of people were murdered, but by and large the majority of those killed were Jewish.

there were political prisoners, gay prisoners, chinese prisoners, blacks, whites, greens, blues, fushas and purple people eaters. but if you took a percentage of the people killed, I would venture at least 50% of them were jewish, if not closer to 70 or 80%. I think that's the point most are making and it's not an outlandish or even close to be stretched point to make.

One of the biggest difference is jews were targeted for extinction. The chinese were killed, blacks were killed, they were all killed...but the goal wasn't to kill *ALL* of them. That was the goal of hitler's final solution. That, IMO, makes it even worse. And no that doesn't mean I think a jew's death is worse than a christian's death. It means in my sliding scale of evil, actively seeking out and trying to wipe out an entire people is worse than killing people who are in your way or oppose you.

Where are you getting these figures from? They are not even close.

So how is that any different than what the Japanese tried to do to the Chinese? They had camps too. They also slaughtered them in the streets for good measure...for no reason other than they were Chinese.

true. when i went to Prague back in 2001, we went to see the Jewish ghetto there because it was so well preserved. Hilter had left the Jewish section of that city alone because he wanted to create his own personal museum of the exterminated race.

The Jewish cemetary itself was amazing. it was like a block higher than the street because they kept on having to bury on top of the previous graves because Jews were only allowed to be buried in that particular section.
