Same goes with the Republicans - you are sadly mistaken if you think the Democrats as a party has the interest of the American people as their top priority. No one party by design can pass shit on their own, you need some help from the other party, both parties did not learn that and we are now paying the consequences with this petty bullshit.
Since the Democrats didn't even ATTEMPT to compromise beyond what they knew would fail anyway (so any "attempt" was just another political game to make the other party look bad) then the 06 elections was a sham and a lie perpetuated by the leaders of the democratic party that knew full well they could not deliver what they promised.

| They tried dozens of compromises, on iraq they couldn't even get equal time for soldiers, for 15 month deployments they'd get 15 months of rest, because of the usual 12 month deployment 12 months of rest Jim Webb, southern moderate veteran, had a lot of support...no dice On Schip, they got Orin Hatch and lots of GOPers to sign on...even 2/3rds of the Senate! But Bush was able to get together 140 die-hard republicans in the house so his veto wouldn't be over-ridden, even though the Democrats already compromised on schip! It goes on and on Now, not only don't they get any credit for that, but now it's their fault there's a partisan atmosphere in DC Last time I checked, Tip O'Neil and Reagan used to meet very cordially and try to work things out, however when Clinton took office, the GOP shut down the government and spent 8 years trying to smear his personal life, investigate dozens of "scandals" that he turned out to be guiltless from, and had to ram through impeachment proceedings I know where the blame lies with any increased partisanship | ||||
