That food will be what the poor will end up eating, soon, our divide will not just be neighborhoods and cars, but the food we eat.

Unless you go out and shoot your own, you are eating engineered animal product.

I see nothing wrong with cloned meat, so long as it is proven to be devoid of genetic mutations that can be dangerous to us. I seriously doubt even the finest meat connoisseur would be able to tell the difference.

If it is, in fact, actually the same. There are a LOT of unknowns regarding clones.

With fatal and debilitating diseases transmittable from cooked meat, the jury is still out.

We know very little about BSD. Cloned meat may be far more susceptible to it.

I don't have any problem eating a cloned animal. It's identical in every way to the parent animal who no one has any trouble eating. The only reasons for refusing to eat cloned animals are either an emotional ( read: irrational ) one, or some moral objection to the methods that are used to clone animals.

As far as a fear of the meat being tainted in some way... it is no more of a risk than it is for normal meat.

FDA: Cloned Meat Safe

Cloned animals are safe to eat, says the FDA.
That finding comes in a draft risk assessment from the FDA, the agency responsible for the safety of America's food.
However, the current voluntary ban on cloned foods remains in effect pending public comment.
The FDA will issue a final ruling after the public comment period closes April 2, 2007. The ban could be lifted before the end of 2007.
Stephen F. Sundlof, DVM, PhD, director of the FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine, announced the FDA's findings at a press conference today

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced today, 15th January, that meat and milk from cloned cattle, pigs and goats, and their offspring, is as safe to eat as meat from non-cloned animals.

The FDA has come to this view following years of detailed analysis and study. The announcement only covers cattle, swine and goats because the agency said there was not enough information on clones from other animals such as sheep, for it to reach a view one way or the other.

The agency has published three documents outlining its approach to the regulation of animal cloning. These are a risk assessment, risk management plan, and industry guidance.

And since we're not eating cloned meat now, isn't anything fatal/debilitating from cooked meat (if there are any) already a problem with "regular" cooked meat?

The FDA did not say it's ok to have rat feces in food. The fda set a limit on how much before it's considered tainted. Seeing as there is absolutely NO possible way to prevent non-food stuff getting into food, setting limits is the responsible thing to do.

All it is is cells put together and allowed to grow naturally, just like any other animal.

What chemicals are you eating by eating cloned animals?

because it's virtually impossible not to have a certain amount of rats or rat feces in grains anyway. I remember learning that in 10th grade biology. it's the reason why i stopped eating cereal for like a year.

rats are going to fall into the grates. they're going to shit into them. there's nothing they can do to prevent it, but in the large scheme of things, the percentage of them in the grains is so minute it doesn't make a difference.

although when i see black bits in my cereal, i still take them out.
