Stengel: When we got into the Iraq war we didn’t know how long it would last. When we got into the Iraq war we didn’t know how much it would cost. It’s lasted longer, it’s cost more than we ever expected. The real toll is coming out now. The Pentagon is releasing a report saying, one in five American serviceman and women who have been in Iraq are coming back with brain injuries. Mild, traumatic brain injuries. More than 250,000 people. That legacy of that will last all of our life times and it’s incalculable.

The cost has truely been unbearable, that people signed up willing to die for their country have to come home...disabled...very sad

Was it worth 250,000 American Casualties...was it worth another flood of homeless vets to come...?

All those good Americans, forced to a life dealing with the worst injury possible

That's funny, cause this says we've had just under 29,000 casualties.

Even a heavily biased anti-war site lists just under 29,000 casualties.

if you took the time to read instead of just look at the numbers and post, then you would have seen that he took injuries into the figure since it seems like nobody really is

i don't get what you're trying to say, thor's definition of casualty differs from yours, or the biased sites are actually right

Hey, genius, casualties include injuries. If you took time to read my links, they include injured. There's no way we've had 29,000 killed.

I have him blocked, so I can't help but see the title only. No matter what he said, he's wrong. There are too many other sites that give the real (or closer) numbers.

He's using "casualty" to mean people who come home with financial problems and any other negative thing they can think of to give a sensationalist number. He's not referencing to only physical injuries.

I don't understand how a serious brain injury sustained in a war isn't a casualty...it meets every definition I can think of...

By my definition of casualty there have been 63 since the war with iraq started, and I'm including Persian Gulf 1.

And of course nobody can dispute my claim because I say my definition of casualty is correct.

63. I'd say that's not that bad for two wars spanning nearly 17 years.
