Florida Republican Debate Analysis

Just finished watching the debate and the last hour of the pundits debating with Chris Matthews the results of the debate.

Ron Paul did fantastic! He was able to speak about his talking points on the economy, the Fed intervention in interest rates and stood out as the only candidate who was against the Iraq war. He even was able to expose McCain as knowing nothing about economics. McCain is toast IMO (except for the Veterans).

In the after debate wrap up, there was one conclusion by all of the pundits: Romney is the "chosen one." Giuliani didn't impress (although, somehow I personally believe he may surprise).

Ron Paul wasn't mentioned once (after one hour of listening). Even with Tucker Carlson, who has come out for Paul but chose Huckabee as the winner, and Pat Robertson who does nothing but say what Ron Paul says, but won't endorse him. Ron Paul came in second with 40% to Romney's 41%, rigged I'm sure, in the text message poll. Yeah, that's believable! Edit: Ron Paul did win this poll: Vote on the Boca Raton Republican debate - The Debates - MSNBC.com

Tomorrow I will post the results from "Fact Check" as to the honesty of the candidates. Ron Paul has never been on FactCheck's website as to having spoken misleading facts during any debate. All the others keep misleading America. Honesty should count for something right?

Another frustrating evening for Paulites, compliments of the MSM.

Here are the final speaking times:

Times During Segment Three
Romney: 8:48, during five times
Giuliani: 4:14, during four times
Huckabee: 4:02, during three times
McCain: 3:00, during three times
Paul: 2:57, during two times

Total Times
Romney: 21:11, during 13 times
McCain: 16:00, during 13 times
Giuliani: 13:50, during 11 times
Huckabee: 12:11, during nine times
Paul: 6:31, during six times

What else is new?

None, MSM treats that issue as a non-issue.

Then Paul got a pass. I wouldn't complain about his lack of time. It would be an issue if they thought he was worthy of giving more than 7 minutes of debate time to. Imagine if McCain was publishing racist stuff under his name... you think the media would treat it as a non-issue? His lack of media time is helping him right now. He'd be completely finished if they harped on it. It would completely remove his electability.

Why do you want to hijack this thread?

Go post on the thread about Paul on that issue.

The issue in this thread is about Ron Paul's air time during the debate. He got off pretty damn easy if you ask me. In fact I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I agree, he should have gotten more time. They should have questioned him on those newsletters and he should have been criticized by the other candidates for it. Unfortunately if that had happened his campaign would likely be finished, so it's probably a good thing he didn't get more time and more attention brought to him.

I am watching a rebroadcast of it right now. They just took the first commercial break. I would agree that Ron has, so far, made the most sense. I think Huckabee and Ron, so far, have said the most things that i have liked.

Says you, but not MSM. They didn't think it was relevant.

Care to comment on the Romney video?

He only got to speak for 6 minutes during an hour and a half debate. Apparently they didn't think Paul was relevant. Do you think any other candidate would have gotten off as easy? I highly doubt it. Paul fans should be counting their blessings that he didn't get more airtime.

I'm watching it now as well. Huck is actually saying some things I agree with. It's too bad he's nutty. Romney is doing pretty well too.

That's strange, I'd like to see if MSNBC addresses where the whisper came from. It could have been another candidate, MSNBC, or perhaps someone from his campaign feeding him information.

And you think any of the MSM would ever side with Paul? I'd say he's done quite well despite MSM trying to signify his irrelevance.

This is the America you approve of though isn't it?

I don't understand your point. Are you attacking me based on your assumption that I "approve" of America, whatever that means. Should I disapprove of America?

Attacking? I'm addressing your comment that the time allotment was fair.

Let me spell it out for you. You approve of the MSM America that doesn't allow equal time to all candidates.

Ron Paul has finished higher than Giuliani and was 4th ahead of Fred in total votes cast thus far before the second to last Fox News debate where they left him out, but kept Giuliani and Fred in.

MSNBC gave Paul a pittence of time which does not correlate to his 4th place overall finish in votes cast, let alone his second place finish in Nevada and 2nd, possibly 1st place finish in the LA caucus.

You think this is OK. I don't.

If Paul was black and was 4th in overall voting, and received this kind of treatment, there would be calls of racism or bias in favor of the white man and Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would be leading marches on Washinton D.C.

He just ranted about the Clintons and how we 'dont want to send them back to washington' because they want to keep the status quo... like the clintons were responsible for the last 8 years of bullshit. I think he forgot, whether you/people give him credit or not, that during clinton's years there were 20 million jobs created, the budget was a lot more under control, etc. He just strikes me as completely full of shit...like..equally as full of shit as Hillary.

I did like the exposure of McCain's lack of knowledge when it came to economics.

A few more opinions:

ConnieTalk: Florida Republican Debate: MSNBC Joins Media Censoring Ron Paul

Ron Paul in MSNBC's GOP Debate: A Victorious Loss!

Ron Paul wins Florida Republican Debate, McCain stumbles on Economy - There was a strong anti war pro Ron Paul crowd...

International opinion:

DEBATE WRAP-UP: RON PAUL IS THE REAL REPUBLICAN AD HOC NEWS

Example of media bias calling Paul the "fifth candidate:"

GOP Debate - WPTV NewsChannel 5

and from someone who is "not a fan of Paul:"

National Ledger - Republican Debate: Mitt Romney & Ron Paul Score Points

Just a sampling...

So Paul raises all this money. DOMINATES in debates. Gets rousing applause everywhere he goes...yet none of this translates to any real support in the polls? Doesn't make sense to me.
