Bill Clinton lost his temper at super delegate meeting.
Bill Clinton's tirade stunned some delegates

Phillip Matier,Andrew Ross

Wednesday, April 2, 2008
A calmer Bill Clinton addresses state Democrats in San Jo...

The Bill Clinton who met privately with California's superdelegates at last weekend's state convention was a far cry from the congenial former president who afterward publicly urged fellow Democrats to "chill out" over the race between his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Barack Obama.

In fact, before his speech Clinton had one of his famous meltdowns Sunday, blasting away at former presidential contender Bill Richardson for having endorsed Obama, the media and the entire nomination process.

"It was one of the worst political meetings I have ever attended," one superdelegate said.

According to those at the meeting, Clinton - who flew in from Chicago with bags under his eyes - was classic old Bill at first, charming and making small talk with the 15 or so delegates who gathered in a room behind the convention stage.

But as the group moved together for the perfunctory photo, Rachel Binah, a former Richardson delegate who now supports Hillary Clinton, told Bill how "sorry" she was to have heard former Clinton campaign manager James Carville call Richardson a "Judas" for backing Obama.

It was as if someone pulled the pin from a grenade.

"Five times to my face (Richardson) said that he would never do that," a red-faced, finger-pointing Clinton erupted.

The former president then went on a tirade that ran from the media's unfair treatment of Hillary to questions about the fairness of the votes in state caucuses that voted for Obama. It ended with him asking delegates to imagine what the reaction would be if Obama was trailing by just 1 percent and people were telling him to drop out.

"It was very, very intense," said one attendee. "Not at all like the Bill of earlier campaigns."

When he finally wound down, Bill was asked what message he wanted the delegates to take away from the meeting.

At that point, a much calmer Clinton outlined his message of party unity.

"It was kind of strange later when he took the stage and told everyone to 'chill out,' " one delegate told us.

"We couldn't help but think he was also talking to himself."

When delegate Binah - still stunned from her encounter with Clinton - got home to Little River (Mendocino County) later in the day - there was a phone message waiting for her from State Party Chairman Art Torres, telling her the former president wanted him to apologize to her on his behalf for what happened.

Still, word of Clinton's blast shot all the way back to the New Mexico state Capitol, where Richardson spokesman Pahl Shipley reiterated Tuesday that his boss had never "promised or guaranteed" Bill and Hillary his endorsement.

It's almost strange how liberals have defended all the Clintons' misdeeds over the years. It's as if Democrats and the media put up a glass house around them and said nobody is allowed to throw stones. And as this campaign has gone on and Hillary has shown no signs of changing from their usual past, finally they're realizing they have a viable candidate and don't need to put up with their crap any longer.

Public Policy Polling: Obama takes the lead in Pennsylvania

A PPP Poll shows Obama with a 2 point lead in PA now! Many people within the Clinton campaign have gone on record saying if she loses PA they'd try to convince Hillary to drop out of the race. We'll see what happens and if the polls keep getting worse for Hillary.

I came on here to post how Hillary lied when she denied having said Obama can't beat McCain. I read some articles this afternoon regarding this, but didn't have time to make the post. Now the headline across Drudge is that she's backpedaling. Backpedaling, lying, I guess you can decide. She basically pulled a Clinton and acted like she misunderstood the question.

Clinton Campaign Backpedals on Richardson Comments - From The Road
URBANK, CALIF. - In an exchange with reporters at a press conference earlier today, Hillary Clinton was asked about reports that while, she was seeking his endorsement, she told Gov. Bill Richardson, D-N.M., that Barack Obama could not win the general election if he were the nominee. Clinton responded, “You know we have been going back and forth in this campaign about who said what to whom and let me say this about that. I don’t talk about private conversations. But I have consistently made the case that I can win because I believe I can win. You know, sometimes people draw the conclusions that I’m saying somebody else can’t win. I can win, I know I can win. That’s why I do this everyday. I’m in it to win it.”

The reporter pressed Clinton saying, “Is that a no?” To which Clinton responded, “That’s a no.”

But later, a senior Clinton spokesman told reporters that Clinton did not mean to imply that she was not referring to what she allegedly said to Richardson about Obama. Instead, the campaign explains that Clinton took the follow up question to mean that she “does not talk about private conversations."

Reporters pressed the aide about Clinton’s answer to which the aide maintained that Clinton’s “that’s a no” answer was aimed at the fact that Clinton does not discuss private conversations.

The campaign’s move leaves open the possibility that Clinton may have been worried that Richardson, who eventually endorsed Obama, would have come out and challenged Clinton’s denial.
She basically danced around the question and then when she was asked outright she made a direct answer. Unfortunately, it was a provable lie. So her campaign spun it and said she misunderstood the question. Yea ok. I wonder how many more times the Clintons will get away with that one.

Scuffle at the Wilshire

My colleague Jeffrey Ressner was at Hillary's fundraiser last night at the Wilshire Theater in Los Angeles, and captured the audio (.wma) of a really jarring scene: a woman dragged out in handcuffs, screaming that she was the only black supporter of Hillary there. (She wasn't.)

Secret Service, Ressner e-mails, declined to comment.

Clinton herself had some fairly strong stuff to say, particularly on Florida and Michigan: "If we don't figure out Michigan and Florida, our candidate will lack the legitimacy that we want," she told the crowd.

Also, a burqa joke:

"I was among the very first to speak out against the Taliban. ... I was invited by the Taliban to visit [but I declined]," she said. "Some days I may think I want to wear a burqa, but I don't want to do that."

At the end of the event, the music played to usher people out, but Hillary stopped the music and implored the crowd to donate. "I need your help. I'm being outspent," she said.

UPDATE: A Clinton volunteer at the Wilshire writes that he witnessed what happened before the woman was arrested:

"Not only did she attack another person at the event (she literally bit a woman, which drew blood and required bandages), she was screaming profanities and tried to urinate in the doorway to the theater! She was both verbally and physically confrontational to volunteers (I was one of them) and to the Secret Service, as well!"

You can't even make this stuff up anymore!

More untruths from Hillary Clinton...
Ohio Hospital Contests a Story Clinton Tells
By DEBORAH SONTAG

Over the last five weeks, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York has featured in her campaign stump speeches the story of a health care horror: an uninsured pregnant woman who lost her baby and died herself after being denied care by an Ohio hospital because she could not come up with a $100 fee.

The woman, Trina Bachtel, did die last August, two weeks after her baby boy was stillborn at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. But hospital administrators said Friday that Ms. Bachtel was under the care of an obstetrics practice affiliated with the hospital, that she was never refused treatment and that she was, in fact, insured.

“We implore the Clinton campaign to immediately desist from repeating this story,” said Rick Castrop, chief executive officer of the O’Bleness Health System.

Linda M. Weiss, a spokeswoman for the not-for-profit hospital, said the Clinton campaign had never contacted the hospital to check the accuracy of the story, which Mrs. Clinton had first heard from a Meigs County, Ohio, sheriff’s deputy in late February.

In all fairness, she is a presidential candidate and can't possibly follow up ever story she hears herself so she has to depend either on her staff to do the due diligence or rely on the ethos of the person telling her the story. As per your quote it was a deputy sheriff, one would assume he/she was telling her the truth or what they believed the truth was.

So I would not call it an "untruth" but rather laziness on her part not to tell her staffers to confirm the validity of it.

It's definitely not a lie. But the question remains, how seriously do you think they're fact checking these stories they're using to promote themselves politically? I'm sure every candidate could easily have been guilty of this, but with Hillary it just seems they'd want to be extra careful now after all the issues they've had. It's just another instance of Hillary being caught with her hands down saying something that wasn't true and to me, it's starting to get a bit old. Every day it seems she's caught saying something that isn't true, whether it be intentionally or accidental.

Well yesterday I saw a clip of Hillary telling a personal story of how she heard about Martin Luther King being assassinated and how she reacted. Call me a Right-Wing Republican, but my first thought was how do I know this is a real memory or total bullshit? And can somebody prove it one way or the other? I honestly would not think this of most Democrats who told the same story. So it is a problem!

You know what? I just realized this, who ever is the voice-over for these commercials is probably making so much money that he is just not going to vote this coming election. How much do you think this fool has earned? I before his awesomeness and strong voice. Maybe he should run 3rd Party, "You remember it's 3am? And I'm the one telling you it is!"

for not having the time to vet it she sure did offer up a lot of details that the person who relayed the story to her did not mention.
