Another person who was high up on the Clinton campaign has resigned. Mark Penn, see ya later.

ABC News' George Stephanopoulos and Eloise Harper report: Sen. Hillary Clinton's chief strategist Mark Penn is stepping down from the campaign, sources close to the campaign tell ABC News.

After it was discovered that Penn had been hired by the Colombian government to help secure a trade deal, one that Sen. Clinton has said she opposes, he realized he needed to step down, sources told ABC News.

Can she please just drop-out?! I really hope the people in Pennsylvania get Obama the win or at least a loss at 3% to 5% so he can snatch up a lot of delegates. She just keeps getting worse and worse. The media is now just unloading on this campaign and with the tax releases now... People are just sick of this woman.

I heard that Pennsylvania is getting closer in Obama's favor. NC is moving away. And her popular vote chances are also slipping away.

Perhaps she will act just like the SNL Hillary and vow to stay in it until the inauguration and still be bitter about it?

"A lot of the way this whole campaign has been covered has amused me," he said. "But there was a lot of fulminating because Hillary, one time late at night when she was exhausted, misstated and immediately apologized for it, what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995. Did y'all see all that. Oh, they blew it up. Let me just tell you. The president of Bosnia and Gen. Wesley Clark -- who was there making peace where we'd lost three peacekeepers who had to ride on a dangerous mountain road because it was too dangerous to go the regular, safe way -- both defended her because they pointed out that when her plane landed in Bosnia, she had to go up to the bulletproof part of the plane, in the front. Everybody else had to put their flack jackets underneath the seat in case they got shot at. And everywhere they went they were covered by Apache helicopters. So they just abbreviated the arrival ceremony. Now I say that because, what really has mattered is that even then she was interested in our troops. And I think she was the first first lady since Eleanor Roosevelt to go into a combat zone. And you woulda thought, you know, that she'd robbed a bank the way they carried on about this. And some of them when they're 60 they'll forget something when they're tired at 11:00 at night, too."

-------

"And then the president of Bosnia said, 'Well, it was quite dangerous when she came, there were snipers in the hills all around,' And then Gen. Wes Clarke, who was there trying to make the peace among the Bosnians, said 'Yeah, it was dangerous, let me remind you three of the Americans who were on my peace-keeping team were killed because they had to take a dangerous road 'cause they couldn't go the regular way.'
Maybe he has different definitions for those words. Worked for him in the past.

The parts that I underlined are complete lies. I bolded them as well because because they're bold-faced lies
- She told multiple versions of the story over numerous press conferences, not just one time.
- Although she told the story numerous times, none of which occurred at night. The final telling of the story that got her into trouble occurred in the morning.
- She didn't immediately respond. It took 11 days for her to mention it at an editorial meeting with the Philadelphia Inquirer/Daily News. Shortly after she went public.
- She hasn't apologized and probably won't.

Other discrepancies:
- Although he prefaced it with "I think" she was the first First Lady since Eleanor Roosevelt to enter a combat zone, he was wrong.
- There was no real threat from snipers as he stated and/or implied. This is getting old. Former acting Bosnian president Ejup Ganic said they were not expecting sniper fire.
- The pilot of the plane said he never ordered anybody to get on their flak jackets and doesn't know why anyone would say such a thing.
- Her trip was in 1996, not 1995.

Political Punch

Something else to consider. She claims to be sharp at 3AM, yet she can't even hold a mid-morning press conference without making shit up.

Hey isn't it funny that Bill Clinton has received $800k from companies who support trade with Colombia and that Bill Clinton has said he disagrees with his wife on Colombia?
Clinton laughs off Colombia questions
Posted: 09:40 AM ET

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (CNN) – Hillary Clinton used her trademark laugh Thursday to deflect a question about the $800,000 her husband earned in 2005 giving speeches for a Bogota-based group that supports the Colombia free trade agreement — the same trade deal she currently opposes.

Asked by CNN if those earnings represented a conflict of interest given that she has dipped into her family's pocketbook to pay campaign bills, Clinton threw up her hands and laughed loudly for several seconds.

"How many angels dance on the head of the pin?," she responded, continuing to giggle. "I have really, uh, nothing to … I mean, how do you answer that?"
Getting back to her laugh deflection. I think she learned from that one. She goes on to say that everyone is free to express their opinion. Yet, she recently kicked Penn out of her campaign for it. This means she understands the problems it brings, but she's deflecting when it involves her husband. She can't just throw Bill under a bus although she'd probably be doing better right now if she had.

Latest pork spending = Bill Clinton?
The Clintons have made a $100-million fortune since leaving the White House, but a Politico analysis found that hasn’t kept Bill Clinton from taking full advantage of the publicly funded perks offered to ex-presidents.

In fact, his presidential retirement benefits cost taxpayers almost as much as those of the other two living ex-presidents combined.

The price tag for Clinton’s federal retirement allowance from 2001 through the end of this year will run $8 million, compared to $5.5 million for George H. W. Bush’s and $4 million for Jimmy Carter’s during the same period.

Since 2001, Clinton has received more of almost every benefit available to former presidents — from his pension to his staff’s salaries and benefits to supplies. His $420,000 phone bill and $3.2 million office rent tab both nearly surpassed the totals rung up for those purposes by Bush, Carter and the late former presidents Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan combined. As a group, they spent $484,000 on telephone service and $3.8 million on rent in the same span.
Taxpayers fund Bill Clinton spending - Kenneth P. Vogel - Politico.com

Clinton is living up the good life in retirement on the American tax payer despite making over $100million since leaving the White House. He's costing us as much as the past two presidents before him and he appears to be making far more than either of them. Personally, if you're making over $10million a year giving speeches and stuff you can pay your own damn phone bill and rent. It would be less than 10% of income. That goes for the other presidents as well. I don't believe this is what the system was intended for. This is just taking advantage of the tax payer.

Hey at least they make up for it by giving 10% of their income to charities - like the Clinton foundation

I love the one where he used taxpayer money to build a home for the SS agents on his property, then turned around and charged rent for the agents to stay there.

Now that's good business planning!

I don't know what you guys think, but the Clintons are not going to blow all their money or even give it all to Chelsea, they are giving out a lot of it now and aren't living like paupers because it wouldn't be very dignified, and there is nothing the right wing would love more than to see Clinton give away most of his money and looking like a pauper compared to Bush's luxurious retirement in 2009

Even if he didn't refuse the aid he doesn't have to take advantage. There's no reason he needed to take that much money. And if he refused it doesn't set a precedent at all. It's there for people who need it, not for people who wish to abuse it. And you mistake someone's desire to see the Clinton's poor with people's desire to not waste our tax money. It is true the money is there to help presidents when they get out to lead a life dignified of an ex-president. But the Clintons have raked in huge amounts of income and on top of that they've collected almost double the tax money of the previous two presidents before him. That's a bit absurd. He can afford to pay for his own lifestyle. We shouldn't have to pay for it.

Back in the day it made sense to do it - Washington, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe all died in serious debt and were much poorer after being President than before.

But now this type of stuff doesn't happen, former Presidents get paid a lot for speaking engagements, are invited to partner up in business or be just a name on a board of directors list. GWB, despite how unpopular he will be by the end of his term, will still rake in millions just by virtue of being a former President.

There should be a limit on how much the tax payer is billed for in this day and age. If the President' net worth is say 10 million anytime after they leave office, they ought to cease getting tax payer money.

I was surprised to see Bill Clinton brought this story back to life. I thought it was pretty silly on his part, especially considering he lied through his entire speech about it. However, the good news is that he's now decided to back off the story. He wants it to just die out. The bad news is that the media is making a story out of Bill backing off the story.
Bill Clinton Backs Off After Reviving Bosnia Sniper Story - America’s Election HQ
Bill Clinton backed down Friday after reviving his wife’s exaggerated account of her trip to Bosnia 12 years ago.

Hillary Clinton acknowledged late last month that she had misspoken when she said on more than one occasion that she had landed under sniper fire during a visit to Bosnia. The controversy surrounding the story had died down until the former president brought it back Thursday when he tried to defend his wife’s mistake.
Interesting quote:
“[Hillary Clinton] called me and said, ‘Look, I misstated it, you said I misstated it, but you don’t know it and you have to let me handle this because you don’t remember it either,’ ” the former president said as he visited the scene of a campaign office that burned down in Terre Haute, Ind. “So I am going to let her answer.”
Hillary admits she doesn't remember what happened in Bosnia. So much for her foreign policy experience. I wonder what else she talks out of her ass about that she doesn't have a memory of.

Richardson speaks out about the Clinton's backdoor dealings for endorsements.

SANTA FE, N.M. -- Before he endorsed Barack Obama, before he drew the wrath of the Clintons and was likened to Judas, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson nearly endorsed Hillary Rodham Clinton for president.

But Richardson hesitated, and as the Democratic campaign turned ugly, he grew angry.

There was that "3 a.m." TV ad, in which Clinton questioned Obama's personal mettle. "That upset me," Richardson said.

There were some ham-fisted phone calls from Clinton backers, who questioned Richardson's honor and suggested that the governor, who served in President Clinton's Cabinet, owed Hillary Clinton his support. "That really ticked me off," Richardson said.

...

He finally concluded that he had done his part and had settled his debt to the former president: He had worked for Clinton's election in 1992, helped pass the North American Free Trade Agreement as part of his administration, stood by him during the Monica S. Lewinsky sex scandal, and rounded up votes to fight impeachment.

"I was loyal," Richardson said during an extended conversation over breakfast this week at the governor's mansion in Santa Fe. "But I don't think that loyalty is transferable to his wife... You don't transfer loyalty to a dynasty."
...
Their manner of courtship -- one wooing, the other arm-twisting -- seemed to reflect the candidates' different personalities and campaign styles.

Obama preferred the soft sell, calling Richardson every three days or so -- "dialing the phone himself, no operator" -- for long discussions about policy and campaign issues. The two developed a bantering relationship, building on the camaraderie they shared off-camera during debates, when they would roll their eyes at some of their rivals' sillier statements.

Clinton was more persistent and tactical. There were eight or more phone calls a day, Richardson said: "Bill calling. Hillary calling, friends of mine that were in the Clinton administration, Clinton operatives, Clinton Hispanic operatives, New Mexico Clinton Hispanic operatives."

Some callers -- who suggested Richardson had an obligation to back Clinton -- did more harm than good. "I think the Clintons have a feeling of entitlement . . . that the presidency was theirs," Richardson said, and the persistent lobbying from "Washington establishment types" convinced him of a need for some fresher faces inside the Beltway.
Very good article. Basically he describes how forceful the Clintons were and how they feel entitled to the presidency. He goes on to say he was loyal to Bill, but that has nothing to do with Hillary. He gave Obama his endorsement after private conversations and a need to change away from the Clintons.
