I have to agree. That was a dumb thing to say. Of course she is going to help her mom. It's what most any son or daughter would do.

Clinton Camp: When Obama Attacks, Media Applaud

Obviously angry communications director on conference call with reporters says:
"I think it is true that every time the Obama campaign in this campaign has attacked Senator Clinton in the worst kind of personal ways, attacked her veracity, attacked her credibility, said that she would say or do anything to get elected, the press has largely applauded him."
Says she focuses on contrasting the issues, while he goes after her personally "every day."

I don't think people are buying into this shit anymore. Obama's side has been pretty clean in this race. Hilary is hardly the victim here.

They have to say something I guess. And playing the victim role is what they are used to for their constituents and themselves.

Recriminations in Clintonland - Yahoo! News
The Clinton camp is already infighting as to why she lost this campaign.. she hasn't even lost yet.

The recriminations over who lost the Hillary campaign have started to begin, even though March 4 contests in Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont are still a week away.

Two days ago, Bill Clinton's former chief of staff, Leon Panetta, blamed chief strategist Mark Penn for the campaign's woes. "I never considered him someone who would run a national campaign for the presidency," Panetta told the New York Observer.

Penn, Panetta said, "comes from an old school, like Karl Rove--it's all about dividing people into smaller groups rather than taking the broader approach that was needed." Penn--and the rest of the Clinton campaign--underestimated Barack Obama's appeal and failed to prepare for the long haul.

"It seems to me like they rolled the dice on Super Tuesday, thinking that would end it," Panetta said. "And when it didn't end it, they didn't have a plan. And when it came to the caucus states, they did have a plan--which was to ignore them. I think those were serious mistakes."

Today a top Clinton adviser, Harold Ickes, who's in charge of courting superdelegates, added his name to the chorus of the disaffected. Ickes also blamed Penn, with whom he's feuded since the 90s. "Mark Penn has run this campaign," Ickes also told the Observer. "Besides Hillary Clinton, he is the single most responsible person for this campaign."

Bill Clinton: The Bitter Half -- Printout -- TIME
Bill Clinton: The Bitter Half

It is hard to miss the irony: the man from Hope is now trying to figure out how to tamp it down. But that tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the spot in which Bill Clinton finds himself today, as his wife's presidential campaign fights for its life in Ohio and Texas. What is harder to figure out is how much of the blame for her predicament belongs to him. "I think he just did her such damage," says a friend and supporter, expressing a sentiment that many feel privately. "They'll never see it that way, because they can't. And he has no self-knowledge. This has magnified all his worst traits."
Another hit piece against Bill.

Clinton's campaign is worried about the Texas caucus so they're threatening a lawsuit against the Texas Democratic Party..
Star-Telegram.com: | 02/28/2008 | State's Democratic Party braces for lawsuit
In a letter sent out late Thursday to both the Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama campaigns, Texas Democratic Party lawyer Chad Dunn warned that a lawsuit could ruin the Democrats' effort to re-energize voters just as they are turning out in record numbers.

Spokesmen from both campaigns maintained there were no plans to sue before the March 4 election.

"It has been brought to my attention that one or both of your campaigns may already be planning or intending to pursue litigation against the Texas Democratic Party," Dunn said in the letter, obtained by the Star-Telegram. "Such action could prove to be a tragedy for a reinvigorated Democratic process."

Democratic sources said representatives from each campaign had made it clear they are keeping all their options open but that the Clinton campaign in particular had warned of an impending lawsuit.

"Both campaigns have made it clear that they would go there if they had to, but I think the imminent threat is coming from one campaign," said one top Democratic official, referring to the Clinton campaign. The official spoke on condition of anonymity.

State Democrats say Clinton camp may sue
Legal action could disrupt or delay caucuses, party says

AUSTIN — The Texas Democratic Party warned Thursday that election night caucuses scheduled for Tuesday could be delayed or disrupted after aides to Hillary Rodham Clinton threatened to sue over the party's complicated delegate selection process.

In a letter sent out late Thursday to both the Clinton and Barack Obama campaigns, Texas Democratic Party lawyer Chad Dunn warned a lawsuit could ruin the Democrats' effort to re-energize voters just as they are turning out in record numbers.
The source, who asked not to be identified, said Clinton's political director, Guy Cecil, had forcefully raised the possibility of a courtroom battle.
State Democrats say Clinton camp may sue | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

I've made posts, I believe in this thread regarding Texas's delegate rules. Basically delegates are awarded to districts based on voter turnout in previous elections. This is done as a means to reward districts for getting voters out to the polls. Hillary Clinton's campaign didn't realize this as they were "preparing" for Texas. They also have a caucus on top of their general primary vote.

The Clinton campaign didn't really prepare much beyond Super Tuesday, but they put a lot of their leftover stock in Texas not realizing the delegate rules... another major blunder of the Clinton campaign. The districts that are pro-Hillary tend to be hispanic regions which had poor turnout in previous elections and therefore will not be worth many delegates. Hillary's campaign realizing its blunder is going on damage control now and is threatening to sue the Texas Democratic Party. The Texas Democratic Party is trying not to name Clinton's campaign specifically by stating "one or more" campaigns "may" be pursuing litigation, but insiders say both campaigns have voiced concerns over the rules, but Clinton's campaign has given threats of litigation. The Clinton camp is in denial mode right now, but more sources have been leaking throughout the day that the Clinton camp has threatened litigation.

It is being spun by the media as a means of the Clinton camp to suppress voter turnout and a demoralizing blow to the Democratic party. This could hurt her going into Tuesday's vote.

Now that McCain has essentially locked the nomination it'll be interesting to see what open primary states will do. Texan Republicans are starting to vote in the Democratic primary. And rather than vote for Clinton who McCain leads in the polls, they're voting on their principles and voting against Hillary Clinton.

As many as a tenth of the Texans voting in the Democratic contests could be Republicans, and overwhelmingly they favor Obama, a first-term senator from Illinois, the polls show.

“I ran for Republican precinct chair. I went to the Republican state convention,” said one of them, Donald Rau of Austin, who has already voted in early balloting. “In this election, I voted for Barack Obama.”
Some Texas Republicans to vote for Obama - Decision '08 - MSNBC.com

So not only is Hillary now down in the polls of Texas, she also has to factor in the Republican factor of voters coming out to vote Obama against her.

If Republicans make up 9 percent of the Democratic electorate, the average suggested among major polls this week, Obama’s advantage of 2-to-1 to 3-to-1 could translate into a 3½- to 5½-point pad on Tuesday night.
The survey shows that the Republicans can swing an extra 4% or so of the vote to Obama that the polls aren't showing.

reminds me of the Nevada caucus law suit, they will do anything to win. Even if that means disenfranchising members of their own party.

McCain would make easy work of Hillary. Democrats shouldn't be too overconfident this election as they were in 04. McCain is no novice and he's a far more difficult candidate to beat than '04 Dubya.

You have got to be kidding me...
Clinton tries to raise bar for Obama

By MIKE GLOVER, Associated Press Writer 55 minutes ago

WACO, Texas - Recasting what would keep her campaign alive, Hillary Rodham Clinton's advisers said Friday that if rival Barack Obama loses any of Tuesday's four presidential primaries it would show Democrats are having second thoughts about him.

In an e-mail and conference call to reporters, Clinton's campaign sought to raise the stakes for the Illinois senator in next week's primaries and also laid the groundwork to keep her campaign alive if the results are disappointing.
"They are outspending us at least two to one in Ohio and Texas," Wolfson said. "If they are unable to win these states it sends a very clear signal that Democrats want this campaign to continue. Obama has every advantage going into this election. If Senator Obama is in fact the de facto nominee, he ought to win all four."
Clinton tries to raise bar for Obama - Yahoo! News
These upcoming primaries were all Hillary up until a week ago. What it shows is that if Hillary loses any of them, Democrats are having second thoughts about her! What an incredible attempt at spin.

In other words what they're saying is basically as long as she wins one state, they're not going to drop out of the race. The more spin we get from the Hillary camp the more it's starting to look like they won't settle for anything other than a divisive brokered convention.

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Texas was supposed to be a bastion of support for Hillary Clinton in the battle for the U.S. Democratic presidential nomination, but it may turn out to be her Alamo.

Her wide lead in Lone Star state polls has disappeared, and experts say it is looking more and more like her last stand against Barack Obama.

In one of history's most famous battles, Texas independence fighters tried to stop the Mexican army at the Alamo in 1836, but they were wiped out by a larger force that overwhelmed them.

In this case, it is not soldiers, but Obama's momentum, threatening to do the same thing to Clinton's presidential aspirations.

Kenyan elders may impose a fine on US presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, payable in livestock, after a photo of her rival Barack Obama in robes dragged their people into the race for the White House.

The picture, which appeared on a US website, showed the Illinois senator in a white headdress and traditional Somali attire during a 2006 visit to Wajir in Kenya's remote north-east.
