I got this from my father's cousin, who normally sends out the reddest of red state propaganda. but I found this pretty funny, and also sensible. what do you guys think?

If we could be guaranteed that every illegal immigrant in this country and every immigrant that might enter this country would not be a terrorist or criminal, I would be all for opening the borders and letting all of these people in, carte blanche. I don't care if they learn english. They already get jobs, that's the reason they come here. Legalize them all, get them paying taxes. What's the problem? And it's no more "My country" than it is anyone elses. I don't own anything more than the land I live on, and even then the government can come and take it on a whim. What do you mean " My Country?" You were born here? so? OUr ancestors were all immigrants. We stole this land from the native americans. It's no more "ours" than anyone elses.

And what rights are we giving away? Your right to collect government checks? That's not a right. Those illegals come here and provide cheap labor making US goods less expensive, making them easier to sell both here and overseas. Our trade deficit is bad enough as it is. Kick out all the illegals, Drive up labor costs.

It has nothing to do with offending anyone. I think the authors of crap like this are just trying to hide thier prejudice by framing it such a context.

If they are really for legal immigration then they should be sending this email to the government demanding that they devote more resources to INS. They are so backlogged with applications that it takes years for anyone to get approved. The authors outrage is totally misguided and misplaced.

The only part I disagree with. I dont believe the labor savings makes their product any cheaper in most cases. Though overhead is still a factor, I think supply/demand has more influence on cost than their labor.

Most illegal immigrants work in non-private household service occupations, precision production craft occupations or as operators, fabricators, and laborers.

Admittedly it depends on the industry. Some industries, like agriculture, rely heavily on labor and it's a major cost for them. Others don't need them at all. If you ever drive through the Salinas valley of California, look around and notice who is harvesting the lettuce and such. It's not middle aged white men thats for sure. That industry in particular is heavily reliant on immigrant labor. It's a big reason that our produce is somewhat affordable.

i wanted to, oh so many times. she sends me jesus crap all the time, and i've asked her not to. my dad's side of the family is WICKED religious. very protestant/baptist, whathaveyou. my dad knew i was pagan, but i doubt he ever shared that info with his family. they're very close minded. the one who sent me that info once asked why I would ever want to live in such a liberal place like Boston......

so needless to say, i just stay out of it, and if i see jesus in an email i hit delete.

Just print out all the emails she has sent to you in the past two years. Then fedex them to her house. That is the most rational and least confrontational way to deal with he problem.

maybe you missed the part where I said I hit delete every time I open stuff from her that says Jesus.

and that's not rational, that's a dick move, and i'm pretty sure she'd not like me too much after that.

sometimes you have to rise above the ridiculousness to keep the family peace.
