Frankly I'm sick of people telling me what a Republican is. Mind you, most of these people were Democrats until the civil rights era.

I'm a fiscal conservative, believe in free trade, free markets. Yet we have this other, new wing of the Republican Party that is obsessed with morality and doesn't mind expanding government spending to suit their interests, johnny-come-latelys who think they're now the arbiter of what a Republican is or isn't.

You can't deny that the party has been hijacked by those people for nearly a decade (at least), though.

The Republicans who are like you, the fiscal conservatives without the forced Christian morality attached are in a small minority of the party.. the party really needs that coalition in order to win elections, so they bring up these tiny little pathetic wedge issues (like equal rights for gay folks) to get enough people to vote to win
