The #1 thing I can think of that has had a major price shift (after inflation) is anything energy related, especially relating to gas. But the reasons for that are obvious. Your phone service is NOT exactly the same. You may pick up a phone and hear the same dial-tone as you did 2 decades ago, but the infrastructure of the phone industry is quite a bit different than it was 15-20 years ago. Calls are clearer, cordless handsets have better range and reception, etc.
