I'm thinking McCain could beat Hillary or Obama

He's not my first choice as a republican president. But he is very popular with Democrats. And I think even though he might not be popular with conservatives, they would vote for him before Hillary or Obama.

I guess I see it in these simple ways.
______________

Hillary is hated/not respected by a lot of people in both parties.

McCain is liked and respected by a lot of people in both parties.
______________

Obama is a newcomer and really has no experience to show he would be a good president.

McCain does have a lot of experience to show he would be a good president.
______________

I don't think most Democrats would be really upset if McCain won. He is Republican Lite.

Luckily, there's a spot for a write-in on my ballot. I'm not going to help save the republican party from hillary when they intentionally went out of their way to marginalize the most conservative candidate

That said, neither will I contribute to her election directly with a vote, of course.

Not that my vote matters or anything.

Nixon had JFK on experience, Carter had little experience, Reagan was an actor, Clinton didn't do anything amazing in Arkansas, Bush II was handed the Texas reigns...

You know who had a lot of Senatorial foreign policy experience...'nam veteran...John Kerry

As Marine Paul Hackett said "I wouldn't want to be in a trench with John McCain he didn't have any combat experience"

If the Clinton camp can do anything, its drive up someone's negatives...you'll be hearing about keating 5 from st. mccain

Come November, there will not be a negativity gap

That, in conjunction with tons of anti-GOP factors, make Hillary an automatic win as soon as she starts up her machine and hits the gas pedal

If Obama wins, if he can maintain the youth vote, he'll win every kerry state plus ohio, and put in a lot of red states dangerously close and force mccain to spend money and time he doesn't have...he'll run circles around him

I could tolerate him as a president. I remember the days of that Gang of 13 where people like McCain would cross party lines to do what he thought was right. I respect that. He's known as a bit of a Maverick.. which I like. Maybe because I identify with it. I'm the first guy that will circumvent a process that isn't working just to get the job done.

You are talking about the McCain from 6 years ago. The current on sold his soul and his principles to drum up support for this election and it will bite him in the ass.

McCain will just continue the failed policies of the Bush administration, a fact that will be pointed out if he takes the nomination.

Can't cut taxes for people who don't pay them
Agree wars are stupid at this point in time unless provoked
I'm with him on universal healthcare

Nonetheless, I'm not voting for him.

Strange enough the 2007-2008 IRS Tax Code I am looking at covers people making less than 30k a year

We should put their income tax so low that after deductions it's zero

Why cut taxes for the working class? No, only the investor class that makes six figures, and especially those who make 250,000+

Oh we all know she can do that, and is doing it. And guess what? It's not working, she looks to be losing to a newcomer.

People are sick of the Clinton smear game. They are what is bad with politics. They are what make people disgusted with politics. She is hated by so many for many good reasons. I hope she does get the nomination, because frankly, I don't think she is electable.

Everyone who knows Democratic politics knows that she's fighting with one hand behind her back, possibly only her pinky

You keep telling yourself that. As a matter of fact, maybe you should make a perma-ban bet again. You seem to do well on those types of political bets

It's common knowledge that if she went after Obama too hard she'd be labeled a destructive democrat trying to take down a progressive rising star in the democratic party

mccain though...pff...40% of the country will cheer her on the more she throws at him, the other 10% will go "where theres smoke...theres fire"

Compare Bill's ads against Bush I in 1992 with Bush's ads against Tsongas

Sure, they will cheer her on as she tries to demean a veteran and former POW.

And we should cheer her because she road her husbands coat tails to her own political career. She was so desperate for power she wouldn't even leave him after his many affairs because she knew it would ruin her chances to enter politics. What a strong, strong woman

I think McCain could beat either Hillary or Obama, but more likely Hillary. Her polarization and negatives are a given. She will rally the Conservative Base! I am still uncertain about Obama and what he can do? But he needs to get past the Clinton Machine first!

Bob Dole anyone?

He did real combat duty, and gave up the use of his arm to defeat the Nazis

Clintons had no trouble slamming him, they are pros

There was no backlash...because unlike Obama, McCain's campaign is going to attack Hillary personally on a bunch of BS 1993 issues and when a man attacks a woman like that, it leaves the door wide fucking open
