| How old would a person have to be to remember when liberal wasn't a bad thing to be? I go back to before the contest began to see who could be furthest to the left. The liberal game today is played by moving so far left, that everyone you meet is to the right of you idealogically, wherein that person, of course becoms the "nazi" and you win. I think of myself as a liberal. I'm sure I wouldn't fail the litmus test, because as a good little liberal I would assert my right not to take it. (we elderly liberals have a problem with authority as well as "tags"). In that vein some of us make really lousy socialists. I like Marx just fine, as long as it's Groucho and not Karl (very old liberal joke-thoroughly unfunny now as liberals have to be completely humorless - to win the game you must maintan appearances). When I wonder if I'm becoming conservative as many elderly folk do, I turn on Rush or one of his gang. Within a minute I find I want to throw something at the radio. So I turn it off and right away I feel good about myself again. That's all the litmus I need. | ||||

| The problem is that the use of "liberal" and "conservative" are so far away from their true meaning that the labels themselves are worthless. There's nothing more liberal than a 100% free market. In many ways those to the left are actually more conservative than Republicans. We want to conserve the environment, conserve our constitutional rights, conserve the fabric of society which is being torn through efforts to continually put the individual at the forefront. Republicans themselves are liberal much of the time. Unfortunately through sloppy journalism and ignorance of history the descriptive terms that used to help identify a person's views are now simply synonymous with whether somebody agrees with Rush Limbaugh or not. | ||||

| I recently took this select a candidate quiz....... Select A Candidate: President The first time I took it my number one choice by 14 points was Obama with Hillary second. Then I took it again and Hillary became my first choice by 13 points and Obama second, so not a large lead. If you click on all results you will see Obama leads the pack but I suspect it is because it is off a public radio website and not a conservative site. They both have very similar platforms........ so much so I couldn't tell the difference too much. | ||||
