Did you even watch the whole thing? He talks about slavery, immigration, workers rights, and goes on. There is like one line about 'race'.

Are you talking about the same video I watched?

Do you understand that the next President will run the country in time of War and all the holding hands "we have overcome" crap means very little? I like Obama. And I hope if elected he has skills I have not seen, or will have people around him that do? A President is not about making people "feel good" about their choice.

I think America needs to feel good about itself again to be honest. A big part of being president is uniting people to better ourselves and each other, rather than pitting ourselves against each other and accomplishing nothing.

I'd say vision is a big part of the presidency (just look at this bullshit 'democratizing the middle east' with Bush). Your job is to lead the nation. You set the direction. He clearly has a voice and message that people listen to, even if you disagree with what he is saying. I don't think it is fair to brush aside such a quality so easily with an excuse like "we are at war!".

This nation sure as hell needs some sort of change, because I think most of us agree we don't like the current state of affairs. Is it empty rhetoric on his part? Who knows...I and many others hope it isn't.

I saw the speech live. Id idn't watch the entire video. But I do recall a brief point where he came off sounding as if he was saying blacks have come far in this country, but need to go further. Vote for me and "yes we can!"

There's nothing necessarily wrong with that message. And it surely isn't saying I can help you because I'm black. But it was a bit of a zinger to hear he bring up race relations in his speech right after blasting Billary for painting him as the black candidate.

Nothing wrong with that. Obama mentioned Reagan for a reason, and it was not policy positions. But we need more than that. Perhaps he is a good gamble? With Hillary and McCain we know what we get. If there is a Maverick in the race if could be Obama? The other three are just deal makers!

Exactly. It's a gamble for sure, but one I'm willing to take when I see the other choices.

Cool vid...Obama always had a rhythm and cadence to his speeches that and his positive message and using future tense make him very appealing to many
