Not smarter. They'll just turn around and vote good-cop.

It's a game. Aside from local politics, there are no democrats and republicans. They're all republicrats. All playing the good-cop--bad-cop game with Americans, and as usual, America will largely fall for it. They'll elect a democrat this time. Later, another republican. All the while, our nation will crumble under the weight of the idiocy.

While I don't think this this is done conciously, its something we certainly see.

I think this has been said every few years since the 1800s...replace Republicans with Whigs for some portions
