Democrats destroy GOP in Primary turnout

Alabama, Kerry lost by 30 points
Today the primaries were tied in voter turnout

Arizone, Kerry lost by 10 points
Today as the homestate of McCain, where he wanted a huge turnout, again, tied result at about 360k for the GOP and Dems

Arkansas, Kerry lost by 10 points
270k Dems to less than 200k for the GOP, despite the fact that Huckabee needed a big win here and was here not keep from being a disgrace, Hillary barely showed up

California, Kerry won by 10 points
However, this time the state went 2-1, 4 million dems to 2 million republicans, and this was a high profile race for everyone...if the election turns out this way, California would have went 66-33 Dem, not 55-45 like in 2004

Colorado, Kerry lost by 6 points
Democrats outnumber Repulicans FOUR TO ONE Amazing numbers for this battleground state

Connecticut, Kerry won by 10
Today, 3-1 Dems to GOP

Delaware, Kerry won by 7
Today, 3-1 Dems to GOP

Georgia, Kerry lost by roughly 20 points
Over 1 million Dems to less than a million Republicans...Democrats beat Republicans in an overwhelmingly red state

Illinois, Kerry won by 10
2 million Dems to 800,000 Republicans

Massachusetts, Kerry's home state he won by 25 points
1.2 million Dems to 470,000 GOP in Romney's home state, where McCain worked hard to GOTV for a romney embarrasment and romney did likewise to avoid one

Minnesota, Kerry won by 3.5%...real battleground state
4 to 1, Democrats...4 to 1....

Missouri, Kerry lost by 7 looks to be too red to be a battleground state but...
820k Dems to 580k Republicans

New Jersey, Kerry won by only 6 points
1.1 million Dems to 500k GOP

New York, Kerry won by 24 points
1.7 million Dems to 600k GOP

North Dakota, Kerry lost by almost 30 points, but today
Roughly 2-1 Dems

Oklahoma, Kerry lost by OVER 30 points, today
400k Democrats to 330k Republicans

Tennessee, Kerry lost by 7 points
600k Dems to 540k Republicans

Utah is the only standout state,

120k for the Dems, 28k for the GOP...until you add Romney...Romney alone got 255,000 votes

Overall: In the key battleground states of what are "trending bluer" Democrats dominated 4-1
In states that were considered red and mostly off limits to Democrats even this cycle...states below the Mason Dixon (that aren't named Florida) line like Tennessee/Arkansas/Missouri, the Democrats outperformed the GOP by a healthy margin

I can't imagine how a Hillary Obama ticket could be stopped in the wake of the intense ideological battle of Reagan-wannabe Romney, Flip Flop McCain, and Preacher Huckabee

In one quick move the Democrats can unite all the divided voters and keep the strong momentum...Republicans still have their big conservative leaders like Rush talking against their nominee to be...and Dobson saying HE WON'T VOTE

Yes, you can win an election with moderate conservative and indepedents, but not without those heavy conservatives manning your GOTV...and I know the people in here who are "well...yea...McCain over Hillary..." and "Still, McCain over Romney" are not the type who are going "WHERE CAN I SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER!!!"

People who here today said things like "oh i forgot to register" or had other reasons they couldn't get their act together for the primary (no offense meant) are exactly the kind of people the Democrats will get a hold of if they feel they'll vote Hillary-Obama, but the Republicans won't because they won't have enough warm bodies on station

If the strongest voice in the Conservative movement, Dr Dobson, says he isn't voting, despite if Hillary were on the ballot...why the fuck would people like him vote, let alone volunteer hours and hours of their own time?

Democrats were always slated to win this year.

And with a McCain / Huckabee ticket, they're now 100% guaranteed.

i would think it would be a McCain/Guiliani ticket.....

doubtful that Huckabee would be tapped.

To stop the 3-way and get evangelicals to man the GOTV effort

He will absolutely not pick Rudy unless he wants to lose badly...him picking Rudy is like Obama picking Hillary...just a bad idea

actually no, it would be like McCain picking Romney, which he definitely wouldn't do. rudy would bring a lot of liberals over to him and the northeast. it's a definite possibility, especially considering the timing of rudy's withdrawal and subsequent backing of McCain....

you shouldn't discount the possibility.

McCain definitely wouldn't want Huckabee as his VP. too religious rite and McCain is not about that.

I'd attribute this more to the intense competition between Obama and Clinton than anything else. If the primaries were settled as early as they were in 2004 turnout would be much lower. Republican primary turnout will likely continue to fall as it has become increasingly clear who the nominee is going to be.

I think McCain can do a heck-of-alot better job at stealing the center than Clinton. The Democratic race isn't going to be settled until May, and I believe Clinton will just squeak by to win her party's nomination. By that time, the rifts in the Republican Party should be mostly healed while we coalesce around our known nominee.

I don't believe Obama will tie his political fortunes to Hillary Clinton after she wins the nomination, he'd be a fool to do so. There's a long time to go until the Democratic race is settled, and I'm sure we're going to be shocked and surprised at the unfolding of events between Obama and Clinton in the months to come.
