Why would you still vote for Mitt Romney

Knowing that you are effectively taking a vote from the only front runner (McCain) who isn't a known religious extremist (Huckabee) who will appease the theocratic right the first chance he gets.

I could see if Romney had 300 or more delegates, but he doesn't. He has no chance to win now, and your vote is wasted. His current status is the same as Ross Perots, voting for him will just take away votes for someone who might actually be able to win the national election.

Like it does every year it has come down to the lesser of two evils. Its time to vote for the lesser of those two and not who we want to win. Otherwise the greater of those evils will win the nomination.

I guess that was supposed to be funny, but its more stupid. Unless Romney is mathematically out (is he? I dont know) like Ron Paul as been for the last 3 weeks you're still voting for a viable candidate. Hopefully Huckabee uses what little brains his has left and drops out of the race and supports Romney before he continues to split the Conservative vote even more.

Ron Paul was not mathematically out until yesterday.

Also, voting for Romney is stupid. He can't win. Enjoy your own medicine

Ron Paul was never mathematically in! You're delusional to think he ever had a chance. I loved what he had to say but he was an over reaching platform candidate at best.

Romney can't win with Huckabee around that is correct. Good thing I already voted then when it still mattered.

True if Romney is mathematically out, although.. I don't think he is yet.

Why? Well, one could argue since he does have as many delegates as he does, if he and Huckabee continue to do well and McCain can't clinch the nomination and it goes to a brokered convention, he may have a shot to come out of there as the nominee despite not being on top of the delegate count.

This differs from a case involving someone like Paul, (or Nader in a general matchup) because, at least in Paul's case, he has no shot at the nomination now, and ultimately never really has. His ideas (and economic conservatism) in general has been extremely marginalized within the party, and he doesn't have enough popular support among the party establishment (or in national polls) to realistically believe he could walk out of a brokered convention as the nominee.

I would vote for Paul over Romney any day though. Romney is the anti-christ.

Not by the math, but by the momentum I would say yes. There was even some speculation last night that he should drop out soon.

Right now, the 3 trailing candidates can still be effective. Now they have to try to prevent John McCain getting the delegates to win the nomination then will have a Brokered Convention. That's what the Ron Paul faithful are believing in now. If it happened, that'd be interesting but most likely we would end up with Romney.

fixed.

But seriously, vote for who you want in office, not who the power elite project to be the likely winner.

That kind of thinking is what has us in the position we're in now.
