That has nothing to do with what I said, I was simply stating a fact which points out that making "something" mandatory makes it easier for the industry which provides that "something" to jack up their rates.

I guess that 'awesome competition' is why everywhere that insurance is mandatory, rates are that much higher

Your personal attacks aren't keepin it classy, son

Proof? Or just a guess that since you have to have it, it is.

And is that why current health care is so cheap?

Not if there is good oversight and regulation

I wouldn't mind it, actually.

In the case of car insurance, though, liability insurance is kinda different from health insurance anyway. It ensures that someone has at least some recourse if a driver hits you.

Unfortunately, lots of low lifes ignore the rules and just drive anyway, and end up wrecking and costing people money.

You need "proof" of a basic, fundamental reality of economics that is taught to freaking high schoolers?

And actually yea health insurance is pretty cheap. I pay $80/month for health insurance coverage which covers me for expenses that could climb well into the hundreds of thousands. On the other hand I pay roughly $120 a month for car insurance coverage which covers me for expenses that even in a pretty bad multi-car wreck MAY amount to, what, $75k?

Want to prove that?

I haven't attacked you, you just don't know what you're talking about and have proved you have no idea of what the candidates other than ron paul have stated.

though I have to give credit where credit is due, "son" remarks are the first thing morons backed into a corner usually pull out.

I'll try to find the actual study itself instead of the cite, if you'd prefer to really push this - it's not like this isn't common knowledge.

If someone hits you with a car, you have insurance, if someone assaults you, and you don't have health insurance, well just tough luck with the medical bills, even if they get caught you know they won't have any money

Something is unfair about that

I have health insurance without a mandate. It's already pretty expensive. I don't need Romney's crappy healthcare plan mandating it for everyone and driving the cost up further as happened with auto insurance in many states.

Luckily, I don't have to worry about that now From the republican side anyway

A 10 fucking year old paper. Using data no newer than 1996.

Interestingly though I didn't know that 45 state have mandatory insurance laws. That pretty limited population too pool data from.

Now, since you refuse to do this yourself, let's link it all together.

III - Compulsory Auto/Uninsured Motorists

According to this link, Only New Hampshire and Wisconsin don't have compulsory liability insurance now. According to the cost of auto insurance section that I linked above, New Hampshire is the 22nd most expensive state, and Wisconsin is the 45th most expensive state in terms of auto insurance.

Of course since it's been made mandatory in so many states, that doesn't leave us with a huge pool of unregulated states to gather data from, but the ones we do have are pretty affordable as compared to the others.

gg grouch

Its right with the national average retard.

And you're not even smart enough to read the paragraph before the graph.

The average expenditure reflects not only the cost of insurance, but how much people purchase. States have different requirements and many people choose to purchase more than the minimum required limits. Keep these factors in mind when comparing states.

You mean it's right with the national average that is heavily influenced by 48 states with compulsory auto insurance? YOU DON'T SAY

Well first son, you can't even make a correct statement.

Those are least expensive states with #1 being the most. You have 2 states without compulsory liability insurance, one of them being right in the statical average and one being very cheap, yet still not cheaper than 5 states where it is mandatory.

Yeah the free market totally kicked ass there kiddo.
