| True Conservatives: How Are You Voting? I'm curious how true conservatives: support small government, fiscal responsibility, etc. plan to vote this year. Will you continue to support a Republican party who has been acting far from conservative? ![]() I understand that a few of them have voted with true conservative values, but I believe those would be the exception rather than the rule. ![]() Has there EVER been an election year with such massive amounts of terrible options? Seriously, for anyone to the right of Kerry or Dean or thereabouts, there are like 0 good candidates (that I can think of). Voting lesser of evils FTMFL. | ||||

| I guess the follow up to that is, are any of you hoping for a Democratic takeover simply in hopes of bringing the Republican party back into some semblance of conservatism? Who would the true conservatives point to as examples at the federal level of what they believe in? | ||||

| I'll be voting Democrat, not because I agree entirely with their platform, but because I think it's important to get some balance back in the Government. We need an opposition party that will stand up to the President and make sure Congress doesn't continue being nearly invalid as a check and co-equal branch of Government. I think anyone who actually stands for conservative values will vote Libertarian or stay home as a sign to the Republicans that they need to re-examine where they've taken the party. I think other people will vote GOP because they care more about partisan politics than the values their party is supposed to stand for. | ||||

| I wonder how many conservatives will vote Republican just to keep Dems out of office? | ||||

| I don't think any real conservative can vote for the Republicans and expect their values to be represented. They haven't gotten anything they've been promised. Smaller government? No Less spending? HAH! "Integrity" in Washington? LoL! Social agenda? Failed. People who'll vote for them are partisans, who, IMO, will vote because they care more about shutting Dems out than they do about the principles ![]() Note that this is a generic thing, there's still some good Republicans that do stand for what the party used to stand for, but they're fairly few and inbetween and IMO most of them are on the local level. | ||||

You can say that there is balance all you want, but the fact is one party in Washington has all the power to cover its own ass by not even bringing certain issues to the Senate and House floors for debate/vote. I think turning at least the Senate or the House over to the Democrats will at least bring back some sort of balance and oversight that is badly needed right now.

You aren't a true conservative anyway, not sure why you are flooding this thread. Just let us know if you vote for anyone other than the GOP, but I've seen you riding their cock for 2 years and don't really expect much different in November.

| My congressional district is very happy with our democratic congressman... he doens't even have an opponent. However, I'll probably toss a vote to Garrett Hayes, the libertarian candidate in the gubanatorial election this year. He won't win, but at least his values are the same as mine (though he supports the Fair Tax, but he says it's just a step in the right direction so that we can get rid of the IRS, which I can agree with). | ||||
