Ron Paul did very well in the Caucus straw poll, and very likely has a clear majority of the delegates.

The Ron Paul machine is doing well in WA!

Not to worry. The Washington State Republican Party already called it for McCain.

As I said in the other thread, the only thing this can do, now that I've seen this with my own eyes, is make me question the accuracy of the other states.

He's trailing Huckabee AND McCain in the popular vote ( not by much but he is trailing).. how does he have the majority of delegates?

That feeds into what thewise1 is saying. Washington state's Republican Party is apparently selectively updating the results so that McCain gets the "media win" even if he doesn't actually win the state's delegates.

Washington has both a caucus and a primary and the delegates are split between them. In the caucus, Paul is doing very well. That doesn't mean he will win most delegates in the state, nor does it mean he'll win the popular vote. If he cleans house in the caucus though he could very well win the most delegates, at which point you'd probably have to change your avatar (unless the best was for popular vote).

Obama is cleaning house. Voters are increasingly getting frustrated with Billary and these upcoming states are more moderate/conservative. Obama tends to do better in the more moderate states.

Yahoo! news does not understand our primary system.

Also, we don't even know that this is true so far.

Please, don't think I'm one of the RP folks who is lying to myself about success when we've failed. I know we're not getting the nomination. This is a given to me. However, I've seen firsthand the results of the caucuses, and those are being misrepresented on the WSRP website.

Well our bet was "he will not win any primary". IF he gets the majority of the delegates does that mean he won the primary?

That is the only measure that counts - how many delegates for him go to the national convention and vote for him.

I think it's only fair for you to not have to change your av unless ron paul gets a majority vote from any state at the national convention, though. But the bet wasn't made with me, so that's all just my opinion.

The REALLY funny thing about this is that the WA state "vote" this weekend was simply the "straw poll". Every caucus goer wrote in their preference. Most of them are not delegates, so the count is VERY misleading.

In my precinct, there were 6 Rep voters present, three of whom ran for delegate positions, and one for alternate.

Two of the three running for delegate were 'committed' to Ron Paul. The PCO is an automatic delegate who also is committed to Ron Paul.

That is 3 - 1 for the delegates in my precinct, in the Huckabee committed delegate is considering voting for Ron Paul in the state caucus (this was just the county Caucuses this past weekend). The state has not voted yet. The popular vote and state caucus will be on the 19th.

MANY of the uncommitted delegates are 'under the radar' Ron Paul supporters who did not disclose their preference in the straw poll in the hopes of getting elected by non-Ron Paul supporters.

I ran committed to Ron Paul and was unanimously elected by the Huckabee crowd to my delegate seat.

I nominated and cast the deciding vote for a Huckabee delegate. (the guy was really motivated to have his voice heard and become involved in the party.... besides.... he may vote differently than he is currently leaning.

The Republican party here was VERY Romney/McCain early into the race. The Ron Paul volunteers, and the Huckabee volunteers OVERTHREW the state party this year.... in no small way. We OVERWHELMED them.

The last PCO straw poll showed McCain - Paul (VERY close 2nd)- Romney - Huckabee. Since then, it has changed even more.

Very exciting year for the R's in WA state.

My folks are in Louisiana.

Ron Paul actually won most of the delegates there. The LA Rep party announced McCain by an unspecified but admittedly (VERY CLOSE) race. This was BEFORE the provisional ballots were counted (new republicans- most of who registered to vote for RP), and excluding a LARGE number of folks who registered close to the deadline who's ballots were initially cast out after an illegal last second rule change.
