this is internet message board, all opinions are of little worth nor do they change the motivations of other people.
Time between signing up for enlistment and shipping out doesn't constitute a "waiting period" unless you can change your mind without repercussions. This is a conflict of interest because the recruiters can't afford to give kids a chance to change their minds, and they certainly wouldn't do it unless it was policy.
Because everyone in this day and age want to be able to make decisions without making a decision. Guess what, signing up for the military is a big long lasting decision, it isn't like picking a major in college. And we play for keeps, there are no give backs. You are an adult, its a big choice, if you aren't prepared to make the decision you should really be mad at your parents and schools for coddling you. And the group of parents/schools that do this coddling always want more coddling. Every single choice, good bad or indifferent, has a repercussion.

It isn't the job of a recruiter to give adults a chance to change their mind, their job is to recruit and get adults ready to ship.
We can come up with all sorts of things that they should or shouldn't be able to do on a whim. All I know is that enlisting in the military is more permanent than any other situation you described.
Marriage is supposed to be for life and has serious financial repercussions if it isn't. That is pretty permanent.

It takes most people 15-30 years to pay off a house, that is a more permanent decision than signing a contract.

oh and if we really want to get technical, they are protesting a Marine Corps Officer Selection Office. Which means are looking for young adults only with college degrees and at the youngest they would be 21-22 years old. Is that still too young Bheld?

Another great video:
YouTube - Code Pink calls marines war criminals

So if a group tried this at an abortion clinic you would be OK with that?

I didn't see his post until after that one went though. I was talking about the article, not the video.

Harassment happens on a daily basis there. It's free speech, although the hate is a little stronger toward the patrons of a clinic than potential military recruits.

it is illegal and just plain wrong to physically block someone's entrance to a legal/legit business.

that's what they were doing.

again, I'm pretty mellow but there were at least two people in those videos I would have hit.

I can't believe that the Berkleley police would not get involved, either a state or federal agency needs to get in there are restore order and safety.

I said "at least" because of that cop. I know he's only following orders but he deserved a smack, too.

Their captain...and from what I understand, police captain is as much about politics as it is about policing.

In the one video I watched they're on a public sidewalk.

It's infuriating to see the guy pointing out "I want to go in there and they won't let me, they're breaking the law" and have the cop say "I understand" and do nothing.

Well I said in the first place that I was against that. I don't really have a dog in this fight, I was just saying their rights should be protected as long as there's no physical action.

should a group be allowed to blockade the door to a business and effectively shut it down for as long as they're willing to stay?
