The lack of Pro-Hillary/Anti-Obama threads in Election 08 is deafening

I wonder why

I think he's better than Hilary b/c he hasn't been in politics (and DC specifically) long enough to have been as corrupted as other people (specifically Hilary). He could be, but I haven't seen any proof.

I think he would spend 4-8 years trying to get us out of Iraq and repealing some of the bullshit laws inacted over the previous 8 years. If he concentrated on that, he wouldn't have much time to do a lot else.

It's not just that. I'd rather Obama win than McCain too. Or Huckabee, or Romney.

It wouldn't be the first time this country had to pick the lesser of two evils....

Being a president isn't all about policies. I'm far from the norm, but I think a President's positions on policy is the least important factor in choosing a pres.

Much more important, IMO, are:

1) Ability as commander in chief (what's pres going to do with the military?)
2) Ability as head of state (how is pres going to deal with foreign nations?)
3) Ability as an executive (how will executive branch be run, and who will be appointed to key positions)
4) Ability, and honesty, as a communicator (talking with the American people, running open and honest government)

Although Clinton and Obama are nearly the same on policies, it seems to me Obama will do a much better job with four key presidential duties above. Sure it's great to have a president who believes all in the same policies as you, but the president's primary job is that of an executive, not a lawmaker. As an executive, Obama seems to have convinced the public, and me included that he is the best person (from either party) for the position.

which is why I support McCain, and I can see why democrats support Obama over Hillary. The first is the difference in last names, and the history associated with it.

Thinking like that resulted in a president that has ignored law after law.

I don't think so. GWB was elected because of his father for one, because he was an evangelican christian, and really lack of any better choice. I don't think anyone believed that he was going to be any of these things mentioned above. People just hoped that he would surround himself with capable people. People liked Bush because he was like one of the boys. He was a plain spoken, downhome texas boy. I know that's really just a false image but that is what people saw.
Maybe people saw items number 3 and 4. But that's really it.

I don't know if a lot of people agree, but there will always be some. They're entitled to their opinions, as much as I and the other 80% of the population disagree.

I don't think that's a reason not to vote based on my factors, but vote strictly based on policy positions.

Given the amount of power that the executive branch has either snapped up for themselves, or just exercised without anyone stopping them, I'll vote based on policy positions, thanks

And I would add to that list that a President needs to be able to "reach across the aisle" when the situation calls for it - Obama (and McCain for that matter) can do it, Hillary can't. For whatever reason she is too divisive and that is last thing we need right now.
