Phantom is a jewel in the rough

I studied engineering for the first 3 semesters of college. It was hard as hell and I way way too immature at the time. I had no trouble with the math, but some of the science and engineering courses require serious effort to do well in. Unless you're willing to devote your life to studies, I'd say stay away from engineering.

One thing i forgot to mention is that the actual engineers here... they have zero personality. Their sense of humor doesn't exist and they walk around like zombies. They come in at 7, stare at their computer screen until 1130. Then they go microwave 3 day old spagetti for lunch and stink the place up. They have no common sense either. Like getting pissed off at the printer for not printing page 3 when its only a two page document.

I had a friend go through civil...first two years he was about the party. We called him "god damn dave" because thats how he introduced himself to the ladies when he was drunk. After that it was like a night and day difference. Ever since his junior year he converted to just plain dave and i haven't seen him for like a year now.

May be the other end to deciding on what engineering you like. While it may not be true at all colleges, here are the basic stereotypes:

Chemical engineering: The one engineering with girls
Industrial: not even real engineering, we call them imaginary engineers
ECE/CE: Here are your 'nerds' Also they don't help each other out like majors
Civil: Generally known as the small town engineer ie:hick
MAE: No real negative steroetypes , we all collaborate more than any other major doing projects and studying for tests. Also have the most parties of any engineering major. General motto engineering school is a team sport

FYI, when someone says "Imaginary engineers" we industrial engineers are supposed to say "imagine me as your boss"

Plus, industrial engineering is the one with all the chicks at Georgia Tech.
