You need more evidence the missile shield is stupid? It hasn't started a new arms race. Mutual assured destruction is still viable, so while the chinese and soviets bitch, they still know they can launch enough missiles that we can destroy each other. Unless we figure out a shield like captain picard has around the enterprise, we have no 'shield'.

Nobody else has a missile with enough range to get here. NK has a missile (taepodong 2) that can allegedly reach the west coast, but last time they test fired it the thing blew up after about 100 feet. Further, their nuclear warhead is not small enough to mount on that missile. They have only a bomb at this point.

Iran, pakistan, india? No missile they have can reach us.

There is no country that has one or a few that can reach us. If they have any they have many. Russia and China are the only missile threat and our shield is useless.

If you fear a group, you should fear a dirty bomb that comes in an imported cigarette machine.

As far as we know. And that won't last forever. Even now this missile is still being tested. It's not ready for prime time either. But the beauty of it is it's ship born, so it can protect our allies as well from missiles that CAN reach them. Japan, SK, Israel etc.

Any state that had the capability to launch an ICBM knows that it's immediately traceable back to them. Thus if they should launch a missle at us, it would be assuring thier own destruction. Not even Kim Il is that stupid. There is no threat from ICBMs for this reason. The only nuclear threat is from covert sources which a missle shield won't do anything for.

Yeah...the US should have had a military base of some sort there...perhaps Navy? And then...they could have used something that could spot incoming planes...similar to the radar we use today. But no...instead the drugged all the soldiers so they were asleep when the attack happened and made the radar not work with laser cats.

I wonder if FDR himself crawled under the desks to pull the plugs on the radar or if he had a crony do it? Actually Dick Cheney was born in Jan of '41. So they could have trained him to crawl/walk under there and get the job done.

The techincal achievement that this represents is not impressive. What is MORE important about this event is that it demonstrates to China that we can shoot down satelites too. We just needed a valid excuse and this aging spy satelite represented that excuse.
