This weekend was the Battle at Guilford Courthouse reenactment in Greensboro, NC. That battle is considered by many to be the turning point in the revolutionary war. I wonder if they will talk about it at some point of the series. | ||||

| Yeah, the series is rated PG, so I doubt much gore and violence will be in the movie. Even though they showed that guy's cock when he was getting tarred and feathered. | ||||

| Yeah they did. Man, you know. I have heard of tar and feathering but I never really thought of it as a form of torture, more humiliation. But last night watching that I'm thinking "Fuck, that tar is boiling." I mean, I would guess most people died after that, right? If not outright but from infection after. | ||||

| I just watched it again with my wife. She is one of the brightest people I know, but she knows nothing about our history. So she asked me to watch it with her because she had a ton of questions. I think it was even better the 2nd time. | ||||

| From the wiki on tarring & feathering.... First degree burns are sustained after a split second contact with a material that is about 70 °C (160 °F). The same is also sustained after thirty seconds of contact with 55 °C (130 °F) material. The tar of that period was of such a quality that it only melted at about 60 °C (140 °F). At temperatures of 60 °C (140 °F) burns can be created with a three second contact. The thin tar layer presumably cooled quickly; nevertheless, the victims possibly sustained some burns in addition to their humiliation. | ||||

| I realized yesterday on my way home from work, after weeks of anticipation about this show, that we don't have HBO (didn't pay for it because we don't ever watch it, we typically watch the various Showtime series). | ||||

| Our cable provider has on demand for certian specials and this is one of them. We can watch episodes 1 & 2 whenever we want with others to follow. It's like having them on DVD, they stop where you stop and you can come back hours or days later and resume watching. First time I was actually glad I paid for the service. Having said all that I found the first two episodes very well written and directed. The acting was good as well, the whole family has now seen both episodes in their entirety. | ||||

| I don't I just caught up on it yesterday though, and I'm really impressed.. Giamatti is absolutely fantastic.. HBO always seems to make stuff that's just so incredibly well made, it always sucks when they get done with something.. | ||||
