HBO Films: John Adams

I'm looking forward to this. It's another Tom Hanks/HBO production. Their other series From Earth to the Moon and Band of Brothers were some of the best TV I have ever watched. I hope they do as good a job with this movie.

Well, he didn't act in the other mini-series. So maybe he'll give it a chance

I will watch it. I always wanted the film industry to do more good movies about our founding fathers.

I'm totally looking forward to this, though I honestly feel like Hamilton might have more dramatic relevence.

actually fought in the War, had an affair, died in a duel, etc.

I think Tom Hanks is a great producer, as evidence by Band of Brothers. So I'm sure this will be good, and I look forward to watching it.

I'm definitely looking forward to this. It looks fascinating and we don't have nearly enough about our founding fathers on film. I just hope that it strives for an accurate representation of what happened.

How about John Hancock? His work during the revolution, President of the continental congress, president of the confederacy etc

John Jay was a fascinating person as well..I hope the mini series touches on the lives of some of the lesser known personalities that played a huge role in the founding as well set up of our nation

Yeah, but Adams has the whole Alien and Sedition thing working against him... dude made some mistakes during his presidency (that weren't completely his fault to say the least), and that's what people most remember him for: the bad stuff.

i doubt the average American knows that but I agree that his life has the drama and nuance to make it entertaining to watch (plus the fact that he lived during a revolution, two forms of American government, the rise and fall of his party, the beginings of slavery as a hot button issue, the war of 1812 etc etc, imagine what it would of been like to pick his brain after all that!)

Certainly, and because of all that it should make a great show! I was talking more about how history views him. In AP American History in High School (which was literally a decade ago now for me) the only mention he got was the fact that he was one of the founders, he was the second president, and that he signed the Alien and Sedition Act into law. Jefferson is the hero in the text books.

It would be very cool to see this mini-series turn into a series of mini-series. The stories don't even need any Hollywood added to them, as they are already quite good. And lord knows a show such as this could actually educate Americans who would otherwise not care enough to know more about Adams than the fact that he was the second president of the US (and probably not even that in most cases)

So did anyone watch this last night? Man, so far so great. And I tell you what, David Morse playing George Washington was almost scary. I mean, to me, he looks dead on. It's like I am actually watching Washington walk and talk. Just amazing.

Good so far but I wished they showed more of the fighting to show just how outmatched and desperate the situation was in the beginning
