My DSL is on the 4th day of being down...

I have been using our small local telco for DSL since they started offering it many, many years ago. And I used their dial up before that. They have been great. 6mbit connection. Complete access to news groups with a 6 month retention. Decent pricing and almost no downtime. Then.....

Saturday night my connection died. Tech support said it was a major issue that was affecting a lot of users. They have called me twice a day every day since it started to let me know they haven't forgotten about me and are still working on it. Got a call today saying to fire it up and see if it works. It doesn't. Uhg. So they are sending someone out. Apparently, most everyone else is working. Just a few stragglers left and I am one of them.

Sounds like they're doing a fantastic job on customer service. If only they could get the connection working.

I guess they will. I'll ask about it. It's not a huge deal though since my work pays my DSL bill. But I will ask.

I lost my Time Warner Cable for a whole weekend before anybody could come out and check it. Turns out some idiot disconnected my line instead of the one for some deadbeat non-payer. But they did refund me for the missing days.

It's finally back up. They are giving me a free month. Wow, that sucked. Especially since my wife and I do 90% of our work from home.

Wow, they called you twice a day to keep you updated? Pretty impressive customer service right there. What company is this?

I have cable.. When there's a problem with Time Warner, you have to call in and it usually takes them several hours to notify their support people that there's been some kind of outage.. they want to run through all the routine tests, etc..

It's Northstate. They handle Telco for High Point, Lexington and Trinity. I really like them, but being out 5 days was friggen rough. The last phone calls I received wasn't even from tech support it was from one of their engineering IT guys who was working on the hardware issues. He sounded like he hadn't slept in a week which he probably hadn't. I couldn't even be mad because he sounded so defeated

But it's working now. They gave me a new modem which has 4 ports and also has wireless, which will let me try out some new firmware for my Linksys router to see if I can make it a wireless bridge for my entertainment system.
