| did he really say this? whats so hard about the 'draining the swamp' thesis? plus if he is unable to do this then he shouldnt have tried it, should he? also does his damaged credibility over the other ways he tried to 'sell' the war actually show us anything about him? his relationship to other members of the admin? the reality of the motivations for the invasion? the reality of the motivations for WoT? the nature of the american electorate? | ||||

| The real goal going into Iraq was to set up a democracy in the middle east. The rest of it was just window dressing used to sell the war to the american public and also to the world. As time goes on the so called window dressing is being pulled back. Everything that they cited as reasoning for going to war has since been proved false. No WMD programs or WMD's save for a few old degraded muntions that date back to before the first gulf war. There were no links to a-queda or the 9/11 hijackers. Iraq was about as big of a threat to the US as Sudan is. The only thing that has remained in the vocabulary of the administration is the achievement of a stable democracy in Iraq. That message has been there from the beginning and is still there today. They believed that this was the best way to stem the tide of radical islamic governments taking control in the middle east. As time goes on public opinion continues to turn against the admin when it comes to the war in Iraq. People are begining to see it for what it was. | ||||
