| Have you guys noticed groceries are ALOT more expensive? Have you guys noticed this? I'm not talking like a few dollars, but maybe 40 or 50 dollars more? We used to spend like 130 or 140 a week on groceries. Now it's closer to 180 or 190. sometimes even 200. We are being careful, buying the store brand, looking for specials, etc. Still it seems we spend more and more every week. I knew that fuel prices and ethanol production were driving up the costs but like really. The prices are up more than 50%? Is that right? | ||||

| More expensive fuel = higher freight costs = higher prices on foodstuffs. This is why I'm looking into getting all our veggies & fruits and such from a Farmer's Market soon, which is helpful because there is a farmer's market right next door to probably the best butcher shop I've ever been to. That way I only have to pay the higher prices on a few necessity products. | ||||

| Around me farmer's markets are much more expensive than grocery stores. Their products are generally better as well though. You get what you pay for. | ||||

| I was talking to the owner of the local Shoprite near my work. He was saying how his costs have increased every month since December, but he hasn't raised prices yet to accommodate. Come April 1st he's going to have to though. | ||||

![]() Dallas is weird like that ... The City of Dallas + suburbs + exurbs are all very urban, but get just a mile or two outside of that 50-60 square mile area and it's ALL farms/ranches. | ||||
