2 Divergent McCain Moments, Rarely Mentioned

As if there weren't already enough reasons for any genuine conservative to not support this aging RINO doofus, here are a couple more.

WASHINGTON — Senator John McCain never fails to call himself a conservative Republican as he campaigns as his party’s presumptive presidential nominee. He often adds that he was a “foot soldier” in the Reagan revolution and that he believes in the bedrock conservative principles of small government, low taxes and the rights of the unborn.

What Mr. McCain almost never mentions are two extraordinary moments in his political past that are at odds with the candidate of the present: His discussions in 2001 with Democrats about leaving the Republican Party, and his conversations in 2004 with Senator John Kerry about becoming Mr. Kerry’s running mate on the Democratic presidential ticket.

I think it's pretty hard to be in the Reagan Revolution when you're in the Keating 5 scandal...

Yet another often overlooked smudge on McCain's record.

John McCain is wondering why nobody’s ever approached him about switching parties...
is more than slightly different than
I stated they couldn’t be so desperate as they hadn’t reached out to McCain
So exactly how is "Mark Salter, one of Mr. McCain’s closest advisers, said that Mr. McCain, although flattered, never took the idea of leaving the party seriously" confusing to you?

And about being VP...."McCain did not flat-out say no." So? He didn't say yes, either.

If by cleared of any wrong doing you mean that he was legally operating within the law at that time to obtain lucrative investment deals and free air transportation from somebody he was in a position to give preferential treatment to but still criticized by an ethics committee for his actions.

he took the flights but where is the evidence that he gave preferential treatment? you're not going to find it in the ethics committee you're talking about, because they said differently.

Is John McCain a Crook? - Chris Suellentrop - Slate Magazine

In February 1991, the Senate Ethics Committee found McCain and Glenn to be the least blameworthy of the five senators. (McCain and Glenn attended the meetings but did nothing else to influence the regulators.) McCain was guilty of nothing more than "poor judgment," the committee said, and declared his actions were not "improper nor attended with gross negligence."

What media pass is that?

He did have a conversation with John Kerry in 2004 and the answer was "No."

What does that tell you about the thinking of John Kerry and his advisors?

That McCain is obviously not just a Bush Clone as the Democrat Nominee will try and portray him in November?

And may the best man win!

By the way I don't think McCain will ask Lieberman to be his VP, too liberal on domestic issues, but a position on the Foreign Policy Team might be in the offering?

Yeah, by looking at his record I peg him as an ultra-liberal socialist (AKA
Marxist, communist, etc.). It's pretty hard to come up with anything else.
That he calls himself a conservative is pretty funny!
