| I have to admit I didn't expect to see so many responses that seemed to be a call for personal responsibility. I was afraid that concept was slowly dying out. What a pleasant suprise! | ||||

| Let's see... She was a "loan-processor." She wasn't making $70k per year, she at best had a few good years of commission, most likely by f*cking over other stupid people by getting them into ridiculous loans. She had a $2500/mo mortgage and had a job that pays $70/k at best. You don't need a college degree in mathematics to recognize this is a dumbass move. She, like so much of the country, thought she could get rich easily by overbuying a house and not doing any work. Do I think she's personally responsible for her situation? Yep. | ||||

And how is a processor fucking people over? They don't sell the loans or even talk to the customer other than to get information needed for paperwork. All they do is fill out forms and fax them to the parties who need them. It's like saying the person who did the admissions paperwork for the students at VT were somehow responsible for them getting shot. | ||||

| I think we have one of those threads that ends up in a rather good consensus opinion. Obviously somebody making $70,000 a year should have had more personal responsibility. People with a whole lot less than this know the importance to save and invest. Who wrote that Fable about the squirrel who spent time saving acorns while the other played about all summer?

| I was thinking Aesop Fables, but I still have that picture of two squirrels in my mind. The same animals in the same environment. The difference was their own behavior. That was the point. | ||||
