I agree. If the government did less to bail out some of this banking foolishness they would be running tighter ships all by themselves.

that attitude is the leading cause of the demise of common sense.

so in other other words, apparently now ignorance *IS* an excuse.

I'll try that one the next time I'm pulled over for speeding.

I didn't know driving was as complex as buying a home.

You're trying to say this was somehow someone else's fault. It was not. I'll give you that her (ex?)husband may have been involved......same deal. If he was involved then she's still on the spot for having been half the marriage/half the decisions.

cliffs: she has nobody to blame but herself.

If you don't understand everything involved with buying a house, you consult a third party that has nothing to gain from the transaction - like a lawyer.

I haven't the first clue because I haven't done it yet, so that is exactly who I WOULD talk to about it.

I brought a lawyer to my closing. I thought everyone did. If I'm making $35k/year and buying a $200k house you can be damn sure I'm going to spend $200 to have a lawyer review it to make sure I'm not getting fucked.

Because you grew up in that world. A lot of people that got fucked over in this crisis had hardly any experience in the world of credit, banking, and loans. Nobody is saying it is an "excuse" either. It's just a fact and it's why these situations have a great deal law and regulation surrounding them. On top of that, it's a shame that you would like to blame your fellow man for everything than the businesses that could be taking advantage of them. You approach every single situation like EVERYONE should know what you do or solve their issues like you do. That's just not reality.

This really has nothing to do with the actual task. Is your position that driving is more complex than buying a home?

It's a wonderful world where every marriage is an equal distribution of power...that's is just not the case.

And you approach every situation like EVERYTHING is someone else's fault.

And that's what's wrong with america today.

Yep. I spent $200 on a lawyer and he pointed and said "sign, initial, initial, sign, date" etc. I could have done it in a coma. I can't drive in a coma.

And if I got fucked I'd sue the lawyer.

It's a wonderful world where every marriage is an equal distribution of power...that's is just not the case.
So it's someone else's fault that (if) her husband did all that financial shit and left her fucked

Exactly how far won't you go to make everyone else the bad guy?

I have an equal distribution of blame while you blame individuals for everything. Neither side is free from blame.

No, as I said above, I distribute my blame instead of thinking everyone should be as all knowing and powerful as I.

What?

I hold individuals responsible for what they do. She had $450k in equity and now she doesn't. There is nobody to blame but her.

Even if you say "it was her husband's fault" she's still right up there because she let someone else make her financial decisions for her.

I don't know about you, but from a young age we've been taught who is responsible for what in a marriage.

So now we're blaming sexism as well? When your list of things/people to blame begins to become all-inclusive it's probably not a logical list. Ultimately she is responsible.

Let's not blame George Bush for the war in Iraq. He's an alpha male. And we all know how he raised, in such a political family trying to make a name for himself. He may not have known any better, I mean really, Cheney is very enticing and can make a man do things he may not have done. Besides you know the economy wasn't that great and the intelligence was half-there to justify his point. I mean really, he's only partially responsible for the US going to war in Iraq so we can't put blame on him. Besides, Osama was a scary man and with all that fear, it's only natural Bush would be confused and make a mistake. All this "personal responsibility" crap is a joke. There were just so many outside influences and circumstances that really were just out of his control.
This is the way I'm reading the argument presented in this thread defending this woman.

Where did you get this shit from? I clearly stated she holds the MAJORITY of responsibility for her situation. It is NOT entirely her fault.

And I don't blame only Bush for this war. Relevant scenario not found.
