I don't think romney is the best choice for mccain. I don't know who is but I don't think romney's going to add enough.

Well he was right behind McCain in the polls and he is more of a moderate, and he has a sound background in business... and he is young and he looks good, something McCain could use a little of.

It's not a terrible choice. Who else is there? Huckabee?

why would it have to be limited to former candidates?

I heard Sonny Perdue mentioned (governor of GA) which would appeal him more to the evangelical right, although who else would they vote for anyway? I don't think McCain could run with anyone who will appeal to democrats more than he already does, so I would guess he'll want someone to make those that are further right a bit more happy. I could see Sonny being that guy, and I remember some conservative radio hosts saying that said Romney was the ONLY choice for Republicans. But then I think Romney has the political conviction of Kerry, so I'm not sure that would really work.

He's got some choices, more than just Romney certainly.

I almost want him to take Rick Perry so we can have a new governor, even though he'd be a horrible VP.

Mark Sanford would be a good choice for the libertarian conservative wing of the party.

The fact that she is both black and a woman will drive liberals insane!

But what she would go though personally by the bigots on the left I don't envy. You would hear Oreo Cookie and Aunt Jemima crap in no time!

Romney will be on the short list for two reasons:

1. McCain need to improve his domestic policy and economic policy image.

2. The age factor demands somebody who could be acceptable as President to a majority of GOP voters and Romney did well enough in the primaries to fit that role.

You mean like she already gets now? And like Colin Powell got while he served?

Actually.............what about Powell?? He's smart, experienced, gave bush enough trouble to attract people who didn't like bush, and he's black.
