TSA is doesn't merely not matter....they're completely fucking useless.

I don't come from government service (aside from my brief year at the port of seattle, which included a lot of time interacting with those monkeys at seatac airport), but as a consultant that travels a fair amount, I just want to stab them in the eye half the time. They made me toss out a $60 bottle of cologne the other day because it "looked bigger than 3oz", EVEN THOUGH IT SAID 2.7oz on the bottom

Of course I can ship it home if I want. But then I'd miss my flight.

He said he was the supervisor and I didn't have time to argue. That's the most grating thing about those idiots, they can get away with their petty tyranny because we all have flights to catch and bosses to answer to if we miss them.

I'm not exactly sure of the reason they were created in the first place. The private companies allowed 9/11, but there have been huge breaches and numerous documented lapses since then under the TSA. Whoever thinks a government agency can do better than private is dreaming.

Well, it's CLEARLY obvious that security at airports is much, much tighter now than it was in the private, pre-9/11 days.

Whether that has to do with TSA, regulation, or a desire to be more protective of air travel is unknown.

I did not mean to say that working-class people are not important. My views could not be further.

The point was, when you take a large amount of relatively uneducated people who take a job for nothing more than job security, and then you tell them that they are doing a "very important job, protecting the American people from terrorists."

It's no wonder they are over-officious.
