I'm not saying people with degrees don't get better jobs than a high school graduate. I'm really just trying to say, people who are in "poverty" who say, "Oh woe is me." need to get off there ass and work hard to move up in the world. It's not impossible.
I totally agree. But that's not even close to what your post implied.
Though, I do think it also depends where you live. If you live in a major city like Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Seattle or Houston. You'll have a much better opportunity to move up if you work hard. Then again, if you live in a small city, your expenses are not as high either.
Possibly a better opportunity.........but you won't be able to afford a house. If you *WORK* in one of those places but live some distance away then you've got a chance. But the closer you get the more expensive it gets. That's why harvard employees (custodial, food services, etc) are fighting for a living wage. Because they can't afford to live in or anywhere near cambridge.
