Air America Host Randi Rhodes Suspended For Calling Hillary A "Big F*cking Whore" - Media on The Huffington Post

Air America host Randi Rhodes called both Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton "whores" in a recent appearance, seen below. Rhodes, who hosts a weekday radio show on Air America, said to the cheering crowd, "What a whore Geraldine Ferraro is! She's such a fucking whore!" She then proceeded to say, "Hillary is a big fucking whore, too" to a mixed audience reaction. "You know why she's a big fucking whore? Because her deal is always, 'Read the fine print, asshole!'"

Update: Rhodes has been now been suspended from the network. Air America released the following statement:

Air America has suspended on-air host Randi Rhodes for making inappropriate statements about prominent figures, including Senator Hillary Clinton, at a recent public appearance on behalf of Air America in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station.

"Air America encourages strong opinions about public affairs but does not condone such abusive, ad hominem language by our Hosts," said chair Charlie Kireker.

It almost warms my heart to see the liberals fall victim to what they've been pushing and pushing for. Leading the charge of the feel good Political Correctness police to show up and strip people of their jobs and publicly shame them for something taken out of context is horrible to watch. I don't think she should be suspended for something she said that wasn't even on air, but it sure puts a smile on my face.

Between Ferarro feeling a little heat and now this, I'd hope they use a little discretion the next time they feel the urge to round up the villagers with the pitch forks and torches.

Granted, Limbaugh being a pill popper and O'Reilley enjoying a lufa up his ass and crusading against those things is right along the same lines. I wish they'd do the same with their morality bullshit as liberals do with the feelings gestapo.

Oh, and screw Charlie Kireker for chiding her over her comments about hillary but not about Reagan.

This isn't the worst thing she's said, it's just that she said it about another liberal that they're gunning her down. She's a mouth, that's why they hired her.

More or less....she said, in the words of Air America's President, " abusive" and "ad hominem" attacks on Nixon and Reagan and there isn't a peep being said about that by him.

But as a radio show host, THAT'S HER JOB! It wasn't on air and she's said similar/worse things about republicans ON AIR.

I'd be willing to bet the only reason she got suspended was because Hillary/Ferarro pulled some strings and made it happen.

You're putting words in my mouth. I didn't say whether employers were allowed to do anything or whether or not I felt they should be allowed to do anything.

What I did was state a fact that she has said worse, and then gave my opinion that the only reason Air America cares is because it was about a liberal this time.

I think this speaks negatively moreso on Air America than Randi Rhodes. They hired her because of her off the wall mouth and has built her career on being an offensive pundit. She has a contract to go on air and ridicule, bash and demean politicians she dislikes and up until this point she has been given a free pass to go around the country and say and do whatever she wanted on and off the air. Now all of sudden when the politician she dislikes is a liberal and she does the same thing she's known for doing, she's punished. It's absurd.

It's like conservative talk radio hiring Anne Coulter and then suspending her because she said something mean about McCain. It's like, well shit you hired her because this is the crap she does and you allowed her to do it on and off the air all the other times... How can you tell her not to now?

Do I think her statements were justified? Not at all. I think it was wrong for her to say. Do I think Air America should have treated her any differently because she's saying it about a liberal? No. If she called McCain a jackass or asshole do you think Air America would have cared? Not in the least bit. So despite the fact that what she said was offensive and crude, it was no different than what they've been encouraging her to do for quite some time. They hired her because this is the shit she does. Now that she's done it against one of their own they're a bit flabbergasted.

I'm with Tank on this one regarding the possibility of Hillary going after them. They have gone after people who have said negative things about her in similar situations that weren't as bad as what Randi said. Like when a pundit said something about "pimping" out Chelsie. They demanded the person get fired/suspended/whatever, don't remember. And they made it happen. It's definitely possible the same thing happened here.

and style, a true liberal is not a hateful person, if you meet a "liberal" who is hateful, they've stopped being one (this excludes tramatic events that have personally affected someone)
