Bluray vs DVD

So, I recently sold my Xbox and my PS3 will be here tomorrow. I decided that having a PS3 for a bluray player outweighed having Halo 3 that I don't play too much anymore.

I was looking at blurays on ebay and whatnot and decided to find some comparisons online. Thought some of you might like this.

I have a PS3, now I just need a 1080p tv so I can take advantage of the blu-ray player.

hence why I sold the Xbox 360 rather than buying a HDDVD player.

My Bluray collection consists of:
Spiderman 3
Tears of the Sun
Gone in 60 Seconds

My roommate has like 5:
Talladega Nights
Blood Diamond
Alexander
etc

I'm going to pick up these hopefully this summer:
Die Hard Collection
Transformers
Shooter
Four Brothers

So do the blurays look better than DVDs on your 1080i set?

I have a 1080i Plasma and I bought a Toshiba upconverter. I am more than happy with the quality. I will never pay more than $200 for another DVD player. Hell, I might not even pay $150.

I would guess a year from now BlueRay players will be in the $100-150 range. Unless Sony has some kind of rights to the standard where they are going to rip companies off by over charging for the technology.

I have a 1080p and I'm pretty happy with the upconverting DVD player to 1080i as well.. once prices come down I'll probably start looking into getting a set, but only if it can play regular DVD's and Blu-Ray, and can upconvert the DVD's it plays

Home Theater: 1080i v. 1080p

Honestly, I've been just slowly collecting Blurays for good deals.

Spiderman 3 came with my PS3.
I paid like $25 for Gone In 60 / Tears of Sun used on ebay.
I paid $32 for Shooter. Only reason I did this is because it's discontinued (Paramont/Bluray legal issues) and they're going for insane $$$ on ebay)
