It is pretty hard to prove something that doesn't happen doesn't happen when the evidence doesn't exist.

You need to prove it DOES happen.

Show me the evidence of someone legally buying a few AR-15's and using them to kill dozens of people.

oh cmon lew, guns make almost every crime easier, and people miss their shot

but ive always thought Florida was high...it has such a nice prosperous background on paper, I don't see a reason the rate should be so high is all...

Having a gun does make other crimes easier to facilitate, if you run into a convenience store with a knife or a bat they might be able to keep you at bay using the Doritos rack or something.. a gun is a different story

I will never, ever understand how people can think banning guns makes for a safer society, just as I'll never understand how people think banning drugs makes for a safer society.

Would society be safer if we could wave a magic wand and all guns everywhere around the earth disappeared and none could be manufactured again? Possibly. Can that happen? No.

I don't particularly like guns. I think people who spend their lives drooling over them are stupid. But when I move for school I'm going to get one. The police don't have to protect me and they can't be everywhere at every moment.

Been talking about gun control for decades, and what we already have has not helped, or changed things much. The hand gun ban in DC did very little to fight gun crime there, people just go to gun shows in Texas and bring them back to DC.

There is no evidence, because if criminals or gang-bangers are getting their hands on weapons like an AR-15 it's purchased illegally on a black-market or if they get it from a person who purchased it legally, the guns ID codes on them are scratched off so they can't be traced back to them.

Gangs armed with AR15s is a huge red herring.

If AR15s were suitable for gang 'warfare', they would most certainly use them. You can get a generic AR15 for about 600 bucks.... the price of a nice semi auto pistol.

The FACT is that medium power semi-auto rifles are not suitable tools for criminal enterprises.

They are LONGARMS.

They are not easy to hide and impossible to conceal carry.

You cant just leave one laying in your backseat for jobs cuz they stick out so much.

They have limited range of motion in confined spaces so they are very difficult to use in a 'drive-by' situations.

They are too easily stolen from each other .... criminals travel light and dont have gun safes in their flop houses.

They attract tons of attention- something criminals tend to avoid.

Criminals prefer subcompact semi auto pistols.

They have preferred them for hundreds of years.

They will prefer them for the conceivable future.

Medium power semi auto rifles are suitable only for tactical use. Some are very useful for hunting animals and culling herds, but their primary use is for military purposes.

They are used in an ASTOUNDINGLY small percentage of crimes.

People who fear them either do not understand them, or they are afraid of an armed citizenry.

Assault rifles in crime is a red herring.

Assault rifles should not scare the crap out of citizens, they should only scare the crap out of the government.
