I am sick of hearing politicians talk about " Oh geez I must have misspoke, or misstated facts or misremembered" It's getting to ridiculous levels where anyone can spout whatever lie they want to and if they get called out, Sorry I misspoke. I ment to say the opposite thing ...

| You "misspeak" when you say "I met with the president that time I landed in bosnia" when you really met with the president in latvia. Or if you say "I was shot at 10 years ago in prague" when really it was 8 years ago in sarejevo then you misspoke. If you say "I met with the president ...." and you NEVER met with the president then you lied. If you say "I was shot at ...... " and you were NEVER shot at then you lied. I'm waiting for someone to use the word "lie." You can't 'misspeak' about something that NEVER HAPPENED TO YOU. | ||||

| Its politics my man... Most people don't pay close attention to political races, they get their news from the paper or the evening news. Politicians know this so they use the type of language that they think will show up on the 10 second sound bites or one line quote in the news. So if they say "Yea I lied" that will show up everywhere and people will associate the politician with a liar, not good for votes. But "miss spoke" sounds like a innocent mistake to most people who don't know the back story.
