I really don't like British humor

Monty Python started off with a pretty funny bit about a swallow, but after that it dealt with a lot of things i just smiled at, but didn't laugh at...however I was able to finish the movie

the life of brian i simply couldn't finish the movie

is it because I'm not really looking at this until the 21st century, and thus everyone else has copied the best parts of british humor and it's flat

hitchhikers guide to the galaxy movie...didn't laugh once

the only thing that got me close to laughing was the "dead parrot" routine, but that's supposedly the best british comedy sketch ever

honestly, normal comedians on comedy central's "friday night lineup" or whatever, get me and my fiancee both rolling

am i alone on this...anyone want to make some comments about how you have to ultra-intelligent to really appreciete british humor?

I think it takes a little time around British people to understand the humor.

Most likely the same is true with humor from any country.

"that actually makes sense"

I don't know what living amonst the brits would teach me

There was the one sketch...the village idiot one by MP

It was funny for like the first 10 seconds, then they just repeated themselves for 5+ minutes, i couldnt stand to finish it, and that's supposed to be a "top" clip

I dont think you have to be intelligent to get british humor, i think its just a matter of personal taste.

I like comedy in general so I tend to appreciate it from a variety of sources.

well i'm just relieved that you've not mentioned the really rather crap Benny Hill which I'f been told was highly rated in sep-land

As for the dead parrot sketch
i think the lou & andy swimming pool sketch has, currently, displaced it
Channel4 - 50 Greatest Comedy Sketches

tho' IMO the best Python fingy was "Is this the right room for an argument" & even that gem is outclassed by "Four Candles"

Currently UK TV is going through the doldrums with the Mighty Boosh failing to live up to the truely great League of Gentlemen. The catch-phrased based Little Britain is also not as good as the earlier Fast Show.

None of this strike me as requiring any intelligence, ..., tho' lcal knowlefge may help.

Last decent thing on UK TV was Shameless though its got weaker as its progressed & its not strictly comedy anyway.

Best OT style UK stand up currently is Frankie Boyle whose 'Welcome to Glasgow' stuff about the failed jihadist attacks cracks me up.

Quite alot of decent stuff on the radio, ..., the very long running 'I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue' is my fave tho' it very much in-jokes.

Four Candles

but see, what you call "the best" i don't even audible laugh, I just smirk

It's certainly humorous...but just not laugh out loud funny...which I do for (just about) any american comedian that's highlighted by HBO or Comedy Central's lineup

Everyone, in my opinion, did you laugh very loud the first time you saw this?

Will Ferrell as Harry Caray from FerrellFan

That is RIDICULOUSLY funny, and is 100x better than any british comedy...but i guess you had to know harry caray

The british tend to be a bit more restrained than we are. Although I think some of Eddie Izards stuff is hilarious.
