Here's why Paul's Campaign went nowhere

LewRockwell.com Blog: Ron Paul Society Page News!

This August in Lake Jackson, Texas, Ron's granddaughter, Valori Pyeatt, and Ron's press secretary, Jesse Benton, will be getting married. A story on the couple, who met through the presidential campaign, is due out shortly in the Wall Street Journal, complete with photos of them working together for the Boss.

Jesse Benton SUCKED as the press secretary. Now, I know why. He was too busy trying to hit Paul's granddaughter.

Pics?

I really think it was his lack of spending money, and his campaign staff's inability to really get the e-support crowd out knocking on doors explaining why he was the best choice for them as Republicans

the reason was that his supporters were the same people that said 20xx was the year of the Linux desktop, when there never will be a year of the Linux desktop.

I think it was the wrong message at the wrong time. Republicans actively shun Paul supporters, at least in the local party here in Washington.

Republicans don't actually want smaller constitutional government or many of the other things they list in their local platform. Some do, of course, but by and large they want the same stuff the dems want, they just call it something different.

I also thought Ron focused on the wrong message, he tried to focus on foreign policy (based on the unpopularity the Iraq War) while he should have focused on the problems with domestic policy. This is one of the main reasons I did not support RP, he is just like every other politician, no principles at all.

His problem was focusing on the Constitution...a document, sadly, many people know little about and even less on how important it actually is

Actually, he didn't focus that much on foreign policy. At the place I went to see him speak, he spoke much more about domestic policies and monetary policies than foreign policy.

However, he did speak a lot on foreign policy, as well he should have.

Main reason he spoke only about foreign policy at debates was that was practically the only questions he was asked, in an attempt by the media to marginalize him.

I was referring to when he was on national tv. He would propose a radical change in US foreign policy but he would say that it would take time to get people of social services.

I don't think you can blame his campaign on one person. There were a lot of problems with the Paul campaign and as much as it pains to say it, his message is what hurt him the most.

Actually, this thread was sorta tongue in cheek.

Obviously, Paul's Campaign didn't take off for a variety of reasons.

But, Jesse did indeed suck and now it looks apparent as to why.

I agree Jesse did a very poor job and perhaps if he wasn't as focused as he should have been.

I don't think he ever said the changes he wanted in foreign policy would happen immediately either?

For the social services thing, I clearly remember him saying that he wouldn't rip out the rug from underneath people who'd been taught to rely on the government.. but I always assumed that meant nothing new moving forward
